Why stay here ...

This little CL enjoys an elevated position with panoramic views across to Holy Isle, Lamlash Bay and Goatfell in the distance. Ardlui is found a few hundred yards down a private farm track just before the Kings Cross turning and the village of Whiting Bay (approx 1.2 miles away).

The site is an excellent base for exploring this stunning island with amazing wildlife, castles, beaches, walks and virtually a golf course in every village! Whiting Bay (1.2 miles away) is a 22 min walk, or a 2 minute drive away where you can find a sandy beach along with a  couple of cafes, pub, garage and local store serving barista coffee, fresh baking and groceries. We have a local bus stop less than a few minutes walk away - handy if you wish to explore the island without the hassle of taking your car.

A grassy gently sloping field of an acre with electrical hook-up (100 amp) and a chemical disposal point further down the paddock. A fresh drinking water tap close to the hook-ups. Mobile phone reception is quirkily patchy and no Wifi available as yet!

Well behaved dogs are welcome but for safety, we request that they are kept on a lead whilst on the site and on the private road leading to the main road. We have chickens so would like to avoid any incidents!

Rubbish and recycling disposal is at the top of the farm track as you turn in from the main road.

Facilities on site ...

Lovely spot

We stayed two nights and despite atrocious weather during the night we loved the peace and tranquility not to mention views down to the sea and over to Goatfell . Don't be confused by earlier reviews mentioning a loo, shower and drying room. There is nothing like that, just elec hook up, fresh water and disposal point. It's an easy walk to a nearby bus stop and we used to get about, the service is fairly frequent. Its possible to walk to the village but the route follows the main road with cars flying round blind corners (no pavement) so I can't recommend it. But I can recommend Ardlui, a lovely wee CL.

We could have stayed forever!

Having booked for 3 nights, we extended to 4, but could have spent our entire 3 week trip round Scotland in this little piece of heaven! Fair enough, we had amazingly hot weather and no rain, but we truly fell in love with Arran and this lovely CL site. Very clean and tidy - and the views! We set up our table and chairs each night in a sheltered little hollow in the hedge and ate dinner overlooking the bay. Why go out to eat when you have views like that? At night we lay awake listening to the owls. Sheila is lovely and really helpful, and the eggs were the best we have ever had - we made sure we stocked up before we left. Out of our 3 week trip, Arran was our favourite place and Ardlui our favourite CL - we have raved about it to anyone who'll listen. It's one of those places you almost don't want to recommend in case you can't get in next time!

Beautiful

We stayed at this CL for 5 nights and wished we had stayed for a couple of weeks.  The site has beautiful views over Kings Cross Point and is an ideal location for exploring the Island.  From it you can walk down to the point and along to Whiting Bay on the beach. The CL was level, very peaceful, well kept and had a washing machine and dryer which was great for us as we are touring for 6 months.  If you are looking for a site on Arran this is definitely the one to stay at.

A welcome in the hillside

Great little site on Arran. Helpful warden ensured we were happy with everything. Facilities are basic, but what do you expect. Single loo and shower are clean. You might need to hone your driving skills after a period of rain. Ground gets very wet and motorhomes are heavy. Do not get that "sinking feeling".
