Why stay here ...

Ardlui CL is in an elevated position with far reaching views to Lamlash Bay, Goat Fell and beyond. We are situated between the villages of Lamlash and Whiting Bay (Whiting Bay is the closest village and is a slow 15 minute walk away). There is a garage and a village shop where you can find all you will need for your stay. They also do the best coffee on the island and has a little area within the shop that you can sit or on a good day you can even sit outside.

There is flat hard standing with electric hook-ups and gently slopes down toward the bottom of the paddock with far reaching views to Lamlash Bay and Goat Fell beyond. As the crow files we are about a mile away from the shores of Holy Island which dominates the view!

We have free ranging chickens that have the run of the site so dogs are welcome by prior arrangement and owners are asked that they be kept on a lead at all times in and around Ardlui so as to avoid any mishaps. I do also sell the eggs (when the girls perform!).

The shore line can be reached from Ardlui and links up to the Coastal Path from Lamlash to Whiting Bay.

Please note the owner can only answer mobile enquiries intermittently (please bear this in mind when booking last minute!). Preferred method for booking is via email.  Thank you.

Stunning View and Peaceful location

Ardlui
We stayed for 6 nights on this lovely site with our caravan at the end of July. In between Lamlash and Whiting Bay it is accessed easily from the main road. All pitches are hard standing with electric hook up and nicely spaced. We saw red squirrels and an eagle and the view across to Holy Isle and Lamlash Bay is stunning. We recommend Felicity's for a take out in Whiting Bay and the garage/hardware shop which has everything! Local shops are good and there is a bigger Co-op in Lamlash if needed. We played Golf at Whiting Bay which has stunning views too.

Lovely spot

Ardlui
We stayed two nights and despite atrocious weather during the night we loved the peace and tranquility not to mention views down to the sea and over to Goatfell . Don't be confused by earlier reviews mentioning a loo, shower and drying room. There is nothing like that, just elec hook up, fresh water and disposal point. It's an easy walk to a nearby bus stop and we used to get about, the service is fairly frequent. Its possible to walk to the village but the route follows the main road with cars flying round blind corners (no pavement) so I can't recommend it. But I can recommend Ardlui, a lovely wee CL.

We could have stayed forever!

Ardlui
Having booked for 3 nights, we extended to 4, but could have spent our entire 3 week trip round Scotland in this little piece of heaven! Fair enough, we had amazingly hot weather and no rain, but we truly fell in love with Arran and this lovely CL site. Very clean and tidy - and the views! We set up our table and chairs each night in a sheltered little hollow in the hedge and ate dinner overlooking the bay. Why go out to eat when you have views like that? At night we lay awake listening to the owls. Sheila is lovely and really helpful, and the eggs were the best we have ever had - we made sure we stocked up before we left. Out of our 3 week trip, Arran was our favourite place and Ardlui our favourite CL - we have raved about it to anyone who'll listen. It's one of those places you almost don't want to recommend in case you can't get in next time!

Beautiful

Ardlui
We stayed at this CL for 5 nights and wished we had stayed for a couple of weeks.  The site has beautiful views over Kings Cross Point and is an ideal location for exploring the Island.  From it you can walk down to the point and along to Whiting Bay on the beach. The CL was level, very peaceful, well kept and had a washing machine and dryer which was great for us as we are touring for 6 months.  If you are looking for a site on Arran this is definitely the one to stay at.

A welcome in the hillside

Ardlui
Great little site on Arran. Helpful warden ensured we were happy with everything. Facilities are basic, but what do you expect. Single loo and shower are clean. You might need to hone your driving skills after a period of rain. Ground gets very wet and motorhomes are heavy. Do not get that "sinking feeling".
