Perfect CL Site for Peace and Quiet

Camling
26th to 29th June 2023 We stopped off at Campling on our way North from Port Loggan. Mrs Campbell was so lovely and we found the site with her excellent instructions. It was exactly what we were looking for. Beautifully kept CL, plenty of room over two areas, one flat and square with lovely views over the hills and bordered by a field with horses. The other field, longer, surrounded by trees and with beautiful wild flowers bordering the camping area, with lots of butterflies and birds. Yes it was a bit up and down but we managed to level up easily. Very quiet and peaceful with beautiful river walk. Excellent place for our two dogs. Water tap at the gate across the road reached by small wooden gate beside the field with the horses. It was no bother at all to reach.

About as quiet as it can get

Camling
A one night stopover after doing the NC500… a well maintained area (could need some minor levelling in places). Facilities for rubbish and a fresh water tap across the road. Very peaceful site, no road noise.

The scenery and waterfalls alone are worth the site free

Camling
I stopped here for a few weeks never got tired of the view as the sun moved it gave a new look to the scenery. All you can hear are country sounds sheep, birds and the waterfalls of the river running beside the site which of course became more spectacular when it rained so I looked forward to the odd day of rain. Oh and on the sunny days there are safe areas to have a bit of a dip. Yes the site is basic but it has what you need if you are self-contained and yes the water tap is across the single track road but as only about 4 or 5 cars a day pass by its not a big problem. Nearby Thornhill is a lovely town again with everything you need I even got my Motorhome serviced at the local garage. Looking forward to returning at some point

Lovely little site - will definately be back

Camling
Just spent a couple of nights here and it was perfect for us. Quiet, well kept and lovely dog walks straight from the site. The water tap location might be a bit of an issue for larger motorhomes as it's on the other side of the single track road with not quite enough space to park next to it without blocking the road. Smaller vans will be fine, or a long hose to run across the road and into the site. The grass is well kept although quite undulating in parts and in a motorhome it can take a while to get level. Mrs Campbell was very friendly and helpful. Really enjoyed our stay will definitely be back,

Quality basic CL in a lovely area.

Camling
Been here a few times over the years, and always enjoy it. Very basic with no power, but there's water, bins, and somewhere to empty the toilet tank. Nice mown field bordered by hedges and trees and has a great riverside walk straight from the site, an excellent short dog walk. For a longer walk, head to nearby Penpont and walk the excellent riverside walk there too. Great value, and a fantastic place to unwind.
