Wrexham is the largest town in northern Wales, nestled between the Welsh mountains and the lower Dee Valley and right on the border with England.
It is full of historic attractions and fun things to do, making it great for all the family as well as couples on the lookout for an interesting British break.
Highlights include Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, which can be walked along its full length, as well as the ruins of 13th century Valley Crucis Abbey. The National Trust manages Erddig Hall too, which has beautiful gardens and parkland for walking.
Wrexham has excellent shopping facilities and numerous opportunities for eating out. There is also a weekly market each Monday, which is great for stocking up on local produce.
Walkers will find an array of trails right on their doorstep and there are scores more attractions on the outskirts of town, including a striking castle just a few miles away.
