The site is ideal for families, with plenty to keep everyone entertained in the local area and a playing field on site. Directions

Please only use these recommended directions for the final approach and not sat nav, due to alternative roads being unsuitable for towing. Leave the M5 at junction 31 and follow signs to Torquay (A380) bypassing Newton Abbot. Continue to follow signs for touring parks on Paignton Ring Road (A380). At the traffic lights turn right onto the A385 Totnes Road (signposted Totnes, Plymouth). In about 0.25 mile at the bottom of the hill turn sharp left immediately before The Parker Arms public house. The site is on the right in 1.5 miles (winding road), about 0.25 mile past a large caravan site on left (which is not a Club Site). There is a security barrier at the entrance.

Visiting Devon

Ramslade Caravan Club Site
Great Site for visiting Torbay. The site has a narrow approach, so just be careful. It is clearly signposted and easy to get to. There is Stoke Gabriel, a village just down the road (15 min walk) which has 2 pubs, shop and restaurant. We were on a serviced pitch and all was well. As usual, the facilities were spotless, plenty of bins located round the site. We also tried the Pizza Van which came on site (Nice). Next time we will try the Chippy Van!

A time at Ramslade and surrounding area.

Ramslade Caravan Club Site
As said the approach road was a little tricky, got stuck on it for 20 mins while no one ahead appeared willing to pass each other. However, that’s what you expect on most roads in Devon, some other roads nearby even narrower than this one. Piece of advice, ignore the sat nav, it took us through some very narrow lanes to get to the site, despite having a sat nav with all our vehicle measurements to take into account…….not. We were made welcome and the staff while we were there were all friendly and helpful. The site is lovely on two different levels, one is on a sloping edge with some wonderful views. The other side was more level and the pitches felt more closer to one another. We didn’t have a great choice, but the warden ringed the available sites at the time which was very useful. Once we pitched up on a service pitch it was level and very tidy. Yes the water tap and waste was a little further away than expected, but it wasn’t a problem. The facilities were fine and always kept very clean, we never had any problems in getting a shower. The only thing I would say is that the Wi-fi signal was very poor, none existent for most of the time while we was there. I tried getting a signal when I moved closer to reception, but it was hit or miss even getting closer. It didn’t spoil it too much. The area is very scenic, you can get a bus from outside the entrance to Stoke Gabriel or Paignton. Time table is available at reception. We decided to hire a car and glad we did, even though our motorhome is just 6 metres, we felt it was just not worth trying to visit places with it. The car got us to places that a motorhome would struggle with, especially when it came to parking. We visited Becky Falls in Dartmoor, what we didn’t realise is you have to pay to visit it, preferably in advance online. However, as it was quieter we paid online when we got there, using there phone as we couldn’t get a signal strong enough to complete purchase. Cockington Village and the Country Park is another great day out. Torquay, Paignton and Brixham along Torbay is well worth seeing and visiting. We took an evening drive to Brixham and it was beautiful as the darkness set in. Great bars and pubs to sample there as well. Great for cycling if you’re fit enough, lots of hills around, also applies if you decide to walk. The only suitable walk with some lanes to walk on is to Stoke Gabriel. The best way is to walk along the lane direct to Stoke Gabriel, less lane to walk on and as you approach the outside of the village, cross over and walk on a footpath avoiding the long narrow lane section here. There are other alternatives walks, the one by the river is good, but check the tide times. The river shack eating place is lovely and folk nearby line fish for crabs. We walked to Totnes, but regretted it.. the footpaths were very difficult in places and difficult. The walk back was on the road and that on reflection was dangerous,. No footpaths and very scary.

Great site, lovely location

Ramslade Caravan Club Site
Thoroughly enjoyed our 6 night stay. Ignore the negative comments, it’s a really good site. Approach is narrow, but as long as you position yourself sensibly on the road, take care, keep an eye open for the passing places and ignore satnav, it’s fine. The little village of Stoke Gabriel is a gem with the River Shack a great cafe within a beautiful setting. Village shop and post office is well stocked and the Church Inn serves a good pint. What is there not to like? Lots of places to visit without too much driving. The area caters for those who like the throngs of tourists as well as the members who prefer their historic centres and beaches a lot quieter. Wardens work hard to keep the site immaculate and are very friendly. Will definitely return.

First visit disappointed.

Ramslade Caravan Club Site
This was our first visit for a 2 week staycation. The approach road is quite scary due to it being narrow and we met a caravan coming the other way and ended up having to wave cars by before having to reverse to a wide enough passing place. However arrived safely, check in was smooth but not overly friendly, no club shop for last minute supplies. Had paid for a serviced pitch, was surprised the tap for this was quite a way from the offside of the caravan, needed the extension, however the pitch we had was very good with plenty of grass around for dogs. However this was not the case for the majority of pitches. Disappointed whilst out warden mowed behind the caravan but not in between the pitches, due to us having a dog spike in but this could easily have been removed. Site has a fantastic dog area, toilet blocks very clean however only 3 cubicles in the men's side and only 1 hand dryer so soon gets busy. Both my wife and I have mobiles on EE, very poor signal and no mobile data availability due to poor reception. Paid for 'silver' club WiFi for the year however msg just kept read connected but no internet so total waste of time. Visited with dogs with the intention of doing lots of walks from the site, please note there are no recognised walks from the site. You can walk to Stoke Gabriel but this entails walking on the roads with no footpaths and can be quite hairy. Overall pleasant holiday but would not recommend and unlikely to return.

Disappointed

Ramslade Caravan Club Site
We have stayed at Ramslade a few times now. So very aware of the road leading to the site and what's around to visit. So we were looking forward to our holiday. On arrival the greeting was not great so thought the warden may have been having a bad day. This must have been a bad time as she was like this the whole stay. She was the most un-welcoming person I have ever made contact with in a customer service role what ever you asked or requested it was always negative. It is preached everywhere on site use your own facilities where possible. When I asked if they would accept a delivery yes but it will be left on the table outside and if it needs signing for it will be rejected. I wanted to purchase something through the caravan club as my toilet cassette broke so was willing to spend £85 and stay on site all day to collect off the table outside. I did my research and it was to be signed for so spent the next 8 days without use of my toilet in the van. My next hurdle was knowing the site was a silver wifi network, soon as we set up the wife and myself paid the fee for 7 nights and not once did we get signal the next morning off I went to see the wardens in the office and low and behold it was the dragon I asked if there was any issues with the WiFi signal no idea its nothing to do with us and if your at bottom of park it never works down there and gave me a leaflet, she asked what network you on? EE I replied oh that not good either O2 best you could always buy a sim and buy some data. We returned to Ramslade as its a silver wifi label, so I could do some work and log on if I needed too to help out with any emergency. Twice I had to take my laptop off site and sit in a carpark and log on. If she know the wifi was poor or none exciting she should advise us of this or even report it back to head office to advise of its poor performance. I rang the company who was as helpful as a chocolate fire guard. Another complaint to write. Beside this warden been rude not approachable. Ramslade is a lovely site a little dated now compared to other site we have visited. The toilet block is spotless and the site is well presented. Dog walk is big and good to excise your dog. I would recommend Sid's pizza for sure. Not the fish and chip van though. I know for a fact Ramslade will not been in our future visit. We have booked our next year's holiday and we are going to try a non camc site. Overall in these crazy times holiday are there to recover and relax. This one individual as made me comment like I have. I hope the person reads it and looks in the mirror as read a few comments about warden's as thought it may just be us. you are paying for a service and it's been poor. Come on club vet your people who represent your brand a lot better or at least read the reviews and monitor them with mystery shop and see for yourselves.
