You may well be right that it may ?deter the few who book many site pitches(weekends?)some think.?, unless the deposits are non refundable or non transferable ,then it will not be any different for some,  as last time deposits were taken, who try to play the system ,

The members it may affect are some retired folk who it seems are watching their pennies with prices

Motor caravaners at least will not unless wanting to pay the add £4.20?to get a hardstand ,unless there is a big increase in hardstands on some  sites that the club  lease ,(many) then it will be  interesting to see how it transpires with pitch availability

Where does the additional £4.20 for hardstanding come from?  Was that mentioned at the AGM?

It is what some members will pay at this time to hopefully be on a hardstand pitch at this time is normally a serviced pitch at £..4.20?per  night ,which they may not have to pay if they book early enough for a normal hardstand when the system changes?

A deposit is what it is, it doesn't make sites anymore expensive, its an advanced payment with the balance to pay on or before arrival.

Withthe  increase in motorhome membership it would make sense to increase non awning pitches. Most motorhome owners when touring (the norm) do not put out full awnings, a canopy perhpas but not a full awning. It would certainly be nice to see more of them on predominately grass pitch sites instead of bare muddy patches.and perhaps it could also result in a few more pitches? Godrevey was a disgrace this year so much so I will not be using it again. Moving the pegs is not a solution, the result is a muddy patch either side of the van one of which you have to step out upon.

At this time with no deposits a member can put a tour together at no cost including those on tight budgets , which will not be the case if deposited are to be paid when booking

Its still an advance payment JVB whether the tour is  a couple of sites or many and just to spell it out it means less to pay on or near arrival.

If as some say they are on a tight budget paying out x amount in advance deposits from a pension as some would need to do ,could well curtail them from booking a tour if it entails several sites

The cost is the same JV. It’s only the date of payment of some of the money that changes. Folks will soon get used to sorting out how they pay. Some folks get their wages/salary/pension monthly, others weekly.

I think the aim of the deposits is possibly to help with the no shows and ease some of the weekend take up to make things a bit easier.

I know that , but as there are some who post on here as to what they can or cannot afford and then deposits no matter when. they are deducted from their pitch fees on arrival,   still have to be paid from their pension be it weekly ,four weekly or monthly needs to be paid when they book a site and if on a tour could? be a substantial amount

I do hope that the deposits are high enough to deter non arrivals.  ,as I posted last time they were used it was not a deterent but then several site could be booked for the same night, and members would stop at the one  when they got tired of driving on long journeys,
