Club Magazine used to send us unwanted junkmail

Really ,really annoying -

Open up the club magazine and  each month it appears to contain more and more unwanted junk mail.more than usual this month  including one from Friends of the Earth (in its own additional envelope)   one for funeral sevices  and the now regular 'drink yourself silly ' with our giant  selection box of wines (obviously in  'advertiser speak'  this junk mail is targeted at this typical magazine  reader profile type and age, US !)  -  Grrrrrrrrrrr  !!

Have otherwise registered with the mail preference system and the telephone preference system to try to  try reducing  unwanted junk mail and nuisance 'sales' calls .

I know you can opt to go 'paperless' but some of us actually like to have a magazine you can physically take to a quite place and read away from the virtual  interactive 'digital screen' world in our own space just for a while.

Why does the club decide that  the magazine is used as a  vehicle to send us annoyingly  useless  unwanted junk mail that  is 99,90%  NOT  Motorhome or Caravan related and will go straight into the paper recycle bin !!!!!!!!!!!!!.

How do you know it is useless, unwanted and annoying to everyone, CK?

Some might enjoy reading it but, if not, just recycle it as it’s not worth getting stressed over.

JV hits the hail on the head.

PS. You do seem to have a thing about junk mail.

Surely its just a case of popping it in the recycling bin? Having it with the magazine probably helps subsidise the cost to the Club. I had someone put half a dozen leaflets through my letter box today, seconds later they were in the recycling bin, easy.

We have opted out of receiving paper mag, it was just filed unopened into our paper rack. Once it reached three unopened mags, we decided not to receive it. If there’s anything I want to read, I will just look online.

You have to smile at the target market for these ads, soon to be buried boozers with elasticated trousers...what does the club think of their membership...laughing (omg that's me and my OH included)

If you stop on a Club Site and glance in the glass recycling I would say Mag marketers have got it spot on brue! Don’t forget the magic of turmeric and vitamin supplements as well! laughing

Yes, but what a complete waste of energy.............. in producing the paper products, printing them, packing them, putting them in the magazine..........!  We all pay lip service to recycling and most of us do what we can but if we didn't produce so much rubbish in the first place we could seriously reduce the amount of waste needing to be recycled in the first place.

Those who wanted to receive 'targetted' advertising could opt in, rather than just having it thrust upon them.

I have been enlightened, all this time I have been putting the magazine in the bin that has become intertwined with the other useful reading material. I love reading about stairlifts, sit down shower enclosures, funeral plans and retirement places.wink

But what is rubbish to one person might be useful to someone else. The companies paying the club to include their material with the magazine have been doing it for years now. Why do they keep doing it? Probably because they get good return on their costs.

I'm with the 'if you don't want it/not interested then recycle it' section
