Do pitch fees include one or two adults?

Hi everyone, I'm confused and I'm hoping for clarification. We've recently rejoined the club so I aren't up to date with pricing. I'm trying to book a pitch for late 2021 and there seems to be an added cost for my wife to stay. I thought the pitch fee included caravan, one car, and two adults.

Do I have to pay extra for the second adult staying on the pitch?

Thanks very much for all your advice and information. I wasn't criticising the price or the pricing structure. I just wanted to confirm that I had the information correct. I was concerned that if I had it wrong I'd be paying for the second person when they might have been included in the price. It's now clear I have to add the bride onto the booking and that becomes the final price. TBH it's still a good price anyway.

I wonder if there are plans to create a 'couples' or 'family' membership.

Thanks again for all your input, greatly appreciated.

add the bride

is it a honeymoon?

And thanks for posting back - doesn't always happen.

Obfuscation is the name of the game. Why should I have to waste so much of my valuable time to discover that the price is more than I am prepared to pay for a product. As I posted elsewhere on the forum, if confronted with a rail of clothes in M&S with a tag on the rail stating that the price was "from", how likely would you be to select something, try it on in the fitting room, take it to the checkout and discover that it was more than you are prepared to pay?

It can work on the odd occasion when circumstances fall into place. Rail networks are notorious users of the “from” price. Usually a couple of tickets on a 6am train, in the depths of Winter. I once dropped on an £8 ticket from Doncaster to Edinburgh. It cost me double that for the taxi fare to the station😂

My best ever train bargain was the Riviera Sleeper from Paddington to Penzance, £45 for a sleeper cabin all to myself, breakfast, free WiFi and First Class Bar!🤩

“Price from” is entirely different to the actual price per night.

As you say, the “price from” was based upon two in occupancy, then last handbook roll out it had changed to one in occupancy. I would deduce that given some of the Site pricing, it was the best way to make the prices look attractive, even if it was only for one or two nights per year for solo tourers😂

To arrive at an actual (true) price per night, there are a number of variables to consider. It’s the classic who, what, where and when pricing strategy. Used quite widely in transport and hospitality. The wise buyer looks at the small print.👍

In the latest handbook it gives price for 1 adult +pitch, and also price for 2 adults + pitch and the price per child. One thing you must realise is the this is the least that you will ever pay. When you check out the price at the most expensive times it will make your eyes water.

👰‍♀️🎉🎊👰‍♀️

Don't forget yourself as well.

1 x pitch fee

2 x adult fees

I'm even more confused now. I was under the impression that the pitch fee includes one adult, so if myself and the bride attend I have to book a pitch plus one adult. Are you saying I have to book the pitch plus TWO adults?

The pitch price is just for the pitch, you pay for each element separately. So pitch and then for however many adults are staying.

Do folk really take any notice of the from price? They are in use by many industries, not just leisure. I think most of us are wise enough to know they rarely have any relation to the price you pay and ignore them.

It would be interesting to know how many of the membership use the handbook as there primary means of site investigation. I don't, I use the web site. This shows the price variations by season and whilst often a little confusing, it at least gives you a reasonable idea of what you will be paying. Certainly enough to decide wether you are going to progress to the next stage and make a booking.

Exactly that as Steve detailed above.

Go to the website or handbook page of a site and check the prices. You will see each element is listed separately by date as it has been for as long as I can remember. It's all quite clearly set out.

Ignore the headline grabbing example 'from' price which, as the small print says, is for the pitch +1 adult and will be for the cheapest day of the year. It is misleading. Calculate your prices only from the table of fees and you will arrive at something like the example Corners pictured earlier.
