Do pitch fees include one or two adults?

Hi everyone, I'm confused and I'm hoping for clarification. We've recently rejoined the club so I aren't up to date with pricing. I'm trying to book a pitch for late 2021 and there seems to be an added cost for my wife to stay. I thought the pitch fee included caravan, one car, and two adults.

Do I have to pay extra for the second adult staying on the pitch?

"fairly recently"?

The earliest Handbook I have kept is 2013/14 where it clearly states

" Nightly fees are payable per pitch and per person for adults and children aged 5-17years"

so the pricing structure has been like this for at least seven years and I think well before then.

Obfuscation is the name of the game. Why should I have to waste so much of my valuable time to discover that the price is more than I am prepared to pay for a product. As I posted elsewhere on the forum, if confronted with a rail of clothes in M&S with a tag on the rail stating that the price was "from", how likely would you be to select something, try it on in the fitting room, take it to the checkout and discover that it was more than you are prepared to pay?

I don't think that you can compare buying in M&S to a leisure industry booking at all.

Firstly the price in M&S is (allowing for inflation and 'sales') do not change when you buy it? The price will be the same the week before a BH as to actually on the BH. There are no 'peak' times from buying a shirt from M&S?

Secondly I know that you have travelled a lot having had a house over there and now a MH. So in booking a flight or ferry did you not come across the 'from' price ever? Did you take that as face value then get upset wen asked to pay a higher price? Have you been upset when you wasted your time in this manner?

You were a banker did your bank ever advertise a loan or other product using the same rate 'from'?

It is a misleading tactic (that you or your bank rather probably as a banker have used?) but as I said before I just ignore it, and I suspect others do. I choose my dates, site and look at the final price given on the booking screen.

Do folk really take any notice of the from price? They are in use by many industries, not just leisure. I think most of us are wise enough to know they rarely have any relation to the price you pay and ignore them.

It would be interesting to know how many of the membership use the handbook as there primary means of site investigation. I don't, I use the web site. This shows the price variations by season and whilst often a little confusing, it at least gives you a reasonable idea of what you will be paying. Certainly enough to decide wether you are going to progress to the next stage and make a booking.

I agree totally. I suppose that being a 'full time user' of club sites (that's a point - am I furloughed?) I roughly know the prices anyway.

And yes I keep the handbook in the car and only ever use it when when travelling to 'investigate' and find a never been to site before. I do keep them and have my first from 1999.

Two different things, YB.

1) The fairly recent change to the ridiculous example 'from' headline price.

2) The actual pricing structure which has been as you describe since goodness knows when.

That was the "from" prices ,it has been amended in the latest Handbook

probably because of the negative feed back the club have recieved since it was first "advertised?" when the last handbook was published

Ps has any one noticed the picture of Bunree site and where the  blue non awning peg is compared to how the motor caravan and canopy are pitchedcoolwink

Great news that the new Sites Directory and Handbook has landed and you've received your copy. For those eagle eyed members who picked up on the positioning of the blue pitcher marker on the front cover image, we just wanted to reassure you that we gave permission for this as a one-off occasion.

I'm even more confused now. I was under the impression that the pitch fee includes one adult, so if myself and the bride attend I have to book a pitch plus one adult. Are you saying I have to book the pitch plus TWO adults?

Posted on 29/12/2020 11:38

I would suggest forgetting what you think, and go to the prices for a Site, do a dummy booking......

Pitch fee

number of adults (in your case 2?)

Number of children (?)

Website will calculate your nightly fee for you, and the price of your total stay. Very little in way of thought, or maths involved, it really is simple.

Thanks very much for all your advice and information. I wasn't criticising the price or the pricing structure. I just wanted to confirm that I had the information correct. I was concerned that if I had it wrong I'd be paying for the second person when they might have been included in the price. It's now clear I have to add the bride onto the booking and that becomes the final price. TBH it's still a good price anyway.

I wonder if there are plans to create a 'couples' or 'family' membership.

Thanks again for all your input, greatly appreciated.

If you have a wife or partner at the same address, you should automatically get 2 cards when you take out membership, as long as you say you are a couple.

That way your wife/partner can use a site as a member without you being there.

As long as one member is in residence, additional people can stay without incurring the non member fee, including on members only sites

If you loan your van to a non member, they will have to pay the additional non member fee, and could not use a members only site.

I noticed that when it arrived and thought "Oh no, another Disgusted from Tunbridge Wells" letter on its way. It's like the wrong flowers last year.
