Do pitch fees include one or two adults?

Hi everyone, I'm confused and I'm hoping for clarification. We've recently rejoined the club so I aren't up to date with pricing. I'm trying to book a pitch for late 2021 and there seems to be an added cost for my wife to stay. I thought the pitch fee included caravan, one car, and two adults.

Do I have to pay extra for the second adult staying on the pitch?

Great news that the new Sites Directory and Handbook has landed and you've received your copy. For those eagle eyed members who picked up on the positioning of the blue pitcher marker on the front cover image, we just wanted to reassure you that we gave permission for this as a one-off occasion.

I've also emailed the club about the handbook as it puts a site in South Wales as being in Denbighshire North Wales which is miles away. One of these days this club will get things right but that could be years off.

I would suggest forgetting what you think, and go to the prices for a Site, do a dummy booking......

Pitch fee

number of adults (in your case 2?)

Number of children (?)

Website will calculate your nightly fee for you, and the price of your total stay. Very little in way of thought, or maths involved, it really is simple.

Except that there will be the reduction of 1/8th in any final price, up to the end of March, due to the change in VAT from 20% to 5% given by the Chancellor, which I suspect has not been deducted on the listing on the web page.

Ah, well remembered Nellie. šŸ‘I had forgotten about the Chancellor’s “get out, get Covid” bribešŸ¤£

I got out a few times and saved a few pounds as a result of the "bribe" and managed to avoid catching covid as well, so from my point of view it was a good incentive. I think it's all a matter of being sensible when you are out there and following the guidelines.

We got it too on the last club site we used on our recent trip, which brought it to mind when reading tda's post. Agree completely with your second sentence Compo. I was hoping to get away locally again next week for a few days but we've just been promoted from Tier 2 to Tier 4 so it's definitely a no go now.frown

The pitch price is just for the pitch, you pay for each element separately. So pitch and then for however many adults are staying.

Seems a little odd the price being just for the pitch, after all how can you use the pitch at all if a human being cannot access it.. You need one adult to site and hook up the caravan, so if you took this literally you could just buy the pitch for the caravan but you would be denied the use of it, so it would be false advertising by the club if it didnt allow a 1 adult free access to use the pitch i would say.

Not even sure why they charge so much per adult, costs do not rise that much for each adult, no extra space is taken up, no real extra electricity used, at most maybe a tiny fraction more water...  Just seems a bit of a marketing trick that leaves a sour taste in the mouth.

Steve was explaining the total cost is made up of the fee for using the pitch (ie pitch fee) plus a charge per person. It’s quite clear on the price breakdown on each site's webpage and the headline 'from' price explains that figure comprises of the fee for the pitch + 1 adult.

As for why the prices are what they are, that’s a whole different debatešŸ˜€

It’s not uncommon for an outfit to be on a pitch, but no one in it for a couple of nights, say to stay somewhere like Isles of Scilly. In this instance, only fee for pitch is paid, not for occupants. Remembering of course to advise Site Staff....

until fairly recently pitch fees included 2 adults but it now seems the club found a new way to add another few quid on the Q T & to show a lower head line price.

Posted on 01/10/2021 13:37

It couldn't have been that recent as I joined the Club in 2013 and it was per pitch plus each adult, when I joined, which is why I prefer to stay on Club sites rather than CL sites or commercial sites.  I think that the CCC would be even cheaper at certain times as they give an age discount for over 60s (or is it 65).
