Is it a rip off?

Hi I have a rant to get off my chest

Just booked a site for 21 nights for an eye watering £540!   After I got back on my feet I was informed that Caravan and Motor home club have increased their Easter fees this week two weeks early.  Why I ask. even the management were embarrassed and thought it were shocking.

I spent 5 nights last week on a fabulous caravan and camping club site in heart of Northumberland with all the facilities and with over 60s discount £8 pn!

After only just re-joining I cannot  see the benefits of staying with  C&M club prices are beyond out reach.

You could have searched out a cheaper deal instead of booking the club site. Perhaps a C&CC site or a CL… It’s just a suggestion and the good thing about club site bookings is that you can cancel up to 72 hours beforehand if you do find a better price elsewhere.

Not sure how you came to that conclusion? Actually, an average of £26 per night over Easter doesn't strike me as being outrageous, although it's not an amount we'd be willing to pay. Which site was this? undecided

have increased their Easter fees this week two weeks early.

Depends on who's definition of "Easter" you use.

Some, but not all, varieties of Christianity define Easter Sunday as first sunday after the full moon after the spring equinox. Which was actually LAST sunday.

Many local authorities realised this wandering date upset school, and other, routines and fixed the dates to be consistent year after year. The Caravan Club seems to recognise these dates in the pricing.

The confectionery industry starts easter in mid-December.

No, the confectionery industry start their exploitation of the Easter tradition in mid December! It gets a bit political but capitalism rears its ugly head again.

I only paid £3 less a night at the end of March for a club site so £26 a night at peak time doesn't seem too bad? Are you sure you would get the C&CC discount at peak times, I didn't think you did. On the timing of Easter peak charges I expect they are aligned with school holidays and with Easter being quite late it is possible that some schools take both weeks before Easter?

I suppose you could reduce costs by opting for the £15 a night sites. That would be £315 v £540, a saving of £225.

No comment re the CAMC prices but as we are soon to be heading to Northumberland I would like to know the name of the C&CC site please.
