When the lockdown ends

I know Boris does not like to hear this but the lockdown is being pushed by economics,  I live on the edge of Manchester and can see a marked increase in traffic as more people go back to work. More shops and small buisineses have opened and even the bigger food takeaway chains are talking of opening all of them following strict guidelines.  Many shops etc have been open all along. Even talk of football matches being played.

The club should now be looking at the possibilities of how the sites can be run under strict guidelines.  There is not going to be a magic date when everything returns to normal as there will not be a normal as we used to know but a new normal of which all organisations such as CAMC should be prepared for.  If  any preparations are being made we should know about them and  be given a chance to comment and submit suggestion.  This is not what the club is used to but does what it wants and if it does not listen to its members it will see the membership numbers fall.

JUST LOOK AT THE MEMBERS COMMENTS AND FOR ONE PUT A COMMENT THERE WILL BE MANY WHO WILL THINK WHY BOTHER AND JUST NOT RENEW MEMBERSHIP.

That is true just looking at the raw figures. However, this graph looks at daily deaths per million using a 7 day rolling average. This shows the curve is not that much different to Italy. True it's not currently come down as low but our rise up started later, so that is to be expected.

its interesting that, as the uk introduced its graphs with a 7-day average to smooth out the curves....Johns Hopkins Univerity (which provides figures for Worldometer) has just introduced a rolling 3-day smoothing for cases and deaths...

i see Italy and Spain recorded lowest death figures for months this past week...still a long way to go but movement in the right direction..

Must be me but I don't get it. Sadly 28,000 people have already died in the UK from this virus and that isn't the end. IF anyone is allowed to use their van, it won't be until at least July, probably even later. So let's say, if we take holidays until Oct, that's 3 or 4 months. We've already lost that amount of time this year. So if I have to lose another 4 months of holidays to possibly save my life, my family from suffering the virus and to not transmit it from one area to another then so be it. I would love to get away but just because the government says I can doesn't mean to say that I will go. Even if away there will be very few places open to visit. It's a shame people can't holiday but my goodness there are much worse things in life.

Sadly 28,000 people have already died in the UK from this virus

This is not true majority of those died with the virus not from the virus, most had underlying conditions that unfortunately the virus hastened their demise.  We will only know the true figures after all the analysis has been done at the end to see how many were actually killed by the virus itself.  It is a bit like someone with cancer, they may die of some organ failure or similar but the death certificate will say cancer.

As for holidays I think maybe sometime in June we get some restrictions lifted then a little more as we hit July when the kids are on holidays, not sure about travel over there yet but likely to be later in the year before we are welcomed with open arms if at all and as for Cornwall and Wales they have made it perfectly clear they don't want us so best stay awaysealed

l am sorry but has soon has the lockdown is lifted with restrictions, l will go an see my grandson which l haven't seen since Christmas, and if the club opens the sites l will travel to a site close to him. l am sorry that others feel different, After fighting prostate cancer for the last 2 years time is precious to me, l will take the chance, besides the wife and l are sure we had the virus in January and will wait for the test to see if we have had it, has soon has the test comes available. Believe me its very hard to lock ourselves down when you know every day is precious to you and not see your loved ones that live a fair way away. Hope this does not upset those that are dead against lifting the lockdown

There's no need for any apologies Heethers. Once the restrictions on non essential travel are eased and sites are allowed to open, its up to each individual to make their own decision whether or not to travel and use the sites. Some will and some won't, and each group will be free to make their own chose and should not criticise each other, (unfortunatly i'm sure some will).

But it isn't just deaths. A friend of mine, a nurse, not in ICU, in her forties, fit and healthy. She contracted this. 6 weeks later, still very poorly, fatigued, can barely get out of bed, let alone work. It's a horrible illness. Even if fortunate enough not to die from it. I won't be risking it for a holiday.

Spread your wings, sir. Go see the world .

Spain may not be your cup of tea but there are more than seven wonders around the world. Enjoy them while you can.

Errr  this is the UK Sites section, and I am personally not interested in EU travel, or implications about it.....otherwise i would look on the Continental Travel section.

The government has said people should not book holidays at home or abroad until social-distancing rules are relaxed.

In my view, cases and deaths are not falling fast enough for this to happen anytime soon..

I'm not entirely convinced they are falling at all.

Posted on 06/05/2020 07:43

I am happy they are falling but sad that it is at such a low rate.

What I think unnecessarily  confusing is the way the figures are released, as though they are a daily figure. When in fact they are figures for registrations. The only realistic figure is that orange rolling average line they are now showing on the daily graph. Which is comming down much, much slower than it went up.

the 'new cases' figure is bound to see an increase as testing is rolled out.

previously, we only knew of cases when someone went to hospital or (sadly) died somewhere else...

now we are 'out there' looking for cases or looking for 'no virus' to allow some back to work or to ensure safety in specific environments.

however, its inevitible that a number of 'extra' cases will be discovered.

..but, as has been said before, Spain, France, Italy were viewed as basket cases while we were in the early stages....yes, we have now surpassed them in total numbers but, even these 'hopeless' situations are being brought under control with cases now a third of the peak and deaths at a quarter or less...

hopefully, we will soon start to see the change these places have seen.
