When the lockdown ends

I know Boris does not like to hear this but the lockdown is being pushed by economics,  I live on the edge of Manchester and can see a marked increase in traffic as more people go back to work. More shops and small buisineses have opened and even the bigger food takeaway chains are talking of opening all of them following strict guidelines.  Many shops etc have been open all along. Even talk of football matches being played.

The club should now be looking at the possibilities of how the sites can be run under strict guidelines.  There is not going to be a magic date when everything returns to normal as there will not be a normal as we used to know but a new normal of which all organisations such as CAMC should be prepared for.  If  any preparations are being made we should know about them and  be given a chance to comment and submit suggestion.  This is not what the club is used to but does what it wants and if it does not listen to its members it will see the membership numbers fall.

JUST LOOK AT THE MEMBERS COMMENTS AND FOR ONE PUT A COMMENT THERE WILL BE MANY WHO WILL THINK WHY BOTHER AND JUST NOT RENEW MEMBERSHIP.

"l am not one of those that travel abroad but l am afraid on the continent their will be resentment to none EC travellers which we will be one of, l really think that their will be no foreign travel until next spring, so hopefully more will be spent here"

H, why would you think there will be resentment to non EC travellers, if this is part of their Govts gradual return to tourism?

tourism is the only commercial element some places in Spain, for example, have to make a living....

if the lockdown there is gradual and controlled and that relaxation doesnt have an adverse effect on infection, then this must be the way that nations will slowly return to normal, wont it?

i agree that some folk will be slower to get back to things but equally some will be keen to get their businesses working again as soon as allowed and they feel its safe to do so.

by "hopefully more will be spent there" do you mean as compensation (in Spain etc?) to those relying on tourism should the lockdown be extended further?

l have heard all the comments, if the Government decide that sites can open with restrictions then l assume the club will follow the directive, those that are afraid of still catching the virus then it's a no brainer stay at home. For myself and the wife who believe we contracted this in the middle of January, yes the middle of January dont tell me it wasn't here then it was, we had all the symptoms did not realise what it was then until the information came out. The wife an l really have been in lockdown since then as it took a good 4 weeks shake it off. We will travel to sites if they are allowed to open including private ones if the club decides not to. Sooner or later the country needs to get back to normal and their will be those that are still apprehensive about not coming out of lockdown its human nature to be cautious l am not one of those that travel abroad but l am afraid on the continent their will be resentment to none EC travellers which we will be one of, l really think that their will be no foreign travel until next spring, so hopefully more will be spent here

Hi heethers, not sure why you think there will be resentment' or what you think that will actually look like?

So far as spending goes we will be just as likely to spend here as we would abroad but the things that we spend on, other than food shopping, are all a no no at the moment and we have no idea when that is likely to change.

We have been discussing what we think would be the safer options so far as holidays are concerned and cannot see any obvious differences between being on a foreign campsite than being here.

Ironically there was a lot of coverage re the issue on cruise ships which are the places we have seen the highest visible prevention actions being taken.

TG, are they not social distancing when they go to the shops, like we do?

i assume New Zealanders still shopped with strict rules as we do?

Yes still strict rules about outside mixing. Our daughter lives there so very aware of what's going!

Can't tell you how much! However still concerns! Their lockdown was level 4, they've moved down to level 3, or as they were told 3.9 😉. They're watching and waiting to see how it goes, then it'll be level 2.

Son in law back to work, they got some sort of pay, but had to use holiday as well whilst not working!

At present the schools don't want pupils in, learning is online and set by child's teacher, because of distancing and cleaning. They are hoping supply teachers will be in school for the pupils whi need to be in school, for a bit.

Their government acted swiftly and consistently, they have a moat! 🤐. Fingers crossed things will continue as they have been. They hope the country will pick up home grown tourists when the time comesrather than inviting them into the country. Of course they are going into winter soon, so hopefully places that rely in tourists will be able to start trading again with home grown tourists.

Maybe its me being a brexiteer looking for the negatives, couple of weeks ago Spain was saying it would welcome tourists back after its lock down but no one from the UK. Spain forgets that early seventies it was the british that kick started spanish tourism and to this day l would bet we are the biggest countries citizens that holiday their, l bet you if you asked the question their would be hostilities to us due to Brexit using Covid 19 has an excuse, its my opinion, others may disagree. l will stay touring in the UK and spend my money in areas that will be glad of it the club will be glad of it after this is all over, those that choose to travel abroad it's your decision.

H, neither Brexit nor Covid has changed my opinion that Spain is a magnificent country to visit and explore, and its people people are truly wonderful....warm, friendly and appreciative of those that visit and treat them with mutual respect....so, not much different to other placeswink

it may be a long wait but i am (and will always) look forward to returning.
