Not much chance of France this summer

Little chance of a French holiday this summer I'm afraid. The French Government have just announced today ( 2 May) that their state of emergency will continue until 24 July and that anyone entering from another country must undergo 14 days quarentine. If you take a look at La Provence online you can read the original article ( in French) .

It is my understanding that EU governments are working towards a set date when restrictions on foreign travel will be lifted and they are aiming for 15th June, subject to common agreement.

Irrespective of all this "no holidays" rhetoric , concentrate on what the law and secondary legislation says in both UK and France.

The intention seems to be to allow travel between France and UK without quarantine restrictions. Good.

BUT there are not yet any passenger ferries running, that has to await further changes to  UK secondary legislation ( Coronovirus Health Regulations 2020) and for similar changes in France, not due until July, for both opening of camp sites and permission of non French national to enter the country. There is quite a bit in the French press about  measures to allow opening of French camp sites - I find La Provence online quite useful.

So it may just  be possible to get a holiday in France  in August( or not)

Just read on the BBC news website that there’s been a change of plans. The quarantine rules will now apply to travel from France after all.

Might change again next week, who knows.

Tried to copy the link but couldn’t get the to work, sorry.

I see people returning from France are included in those who must quarantine for 14 days according to a Government spokesperson today. The exemption would appear to be for freight drivers and some scientific researchers.

Won't matter to us as we're likely to avoid an overseas trip this year.

Edit - I see Pliers has beaten me to the news.smile

It'll give you plenty of time to empty the van, sort out the garden and upload your holiday pics.

Good Heavens!

I hope the restrictions don’t last that long!

😱😱😱

Received an email from CAMC to check that my ferry reservations for June (3rd and 15th) was OK. Responded with Email asking for the trip to be deferred and cancelling my one trip RP.

That was on 13th May. No response yet but suspect that the club are really struggling atm, virtually impossible to get telephone access etc. The lack of response makes me nervous!!!

Just have to trust in CAMC and good luck.

I asked for and got a call back this week. It was 3 hours later but the operator who I suspect was at home did look into my query. I am still awaiting  a voucher refund for ferry cancelled 2 months ago and it looks as though it may be some time yet.

Might try again on Monday!

Just get the feeing that my messages aren't getting through, already tried call back with no result.
