Cirencester Park access road

We were out walking near Cirencester today so thought we'd divert to wander past the club site to see how things looked.

Well, not sure if this is good news or bad, but the access road has been diverted..

So - good news - for anyone with a pothole aversion - it's been resurfaced and the tarmac is now billiard table smooth (apart from the inevitable speed humps!)

Not such good news - instead of a long straight road with plenty of wide stretches to allow for units to pass it is now very narrow and winding, with large boulders each side at the entrance and just a couple of small lay bys for passing, so heaven help you if you meet another unit coming in or out.

I can't see any practical alternative to the "off by 12 and no arrivals before 1" arrangement. We'll just have to wait and see - well, not us obviously! wink

Was at Cirencester Park site last week, plenty of long T/A caravans and equally long motorhomes  on site. They obviously got in without difficulty. It really is not as bad as some portray, work going on near the entrance of the lane by the College to develop a car park area.

Apparently there was some work done to improve the situation after the original comments were posted.  I saw both before and after videos on YouTube by The Trudgians.  Dan posted two videos illustrating the problem, then later filmed again after the work had been done.

We were there in August last year and it was after they had improved the improvements! Many of the large rocks had been removed and replaced with posts set slightly further back. Plus the two laybys had been extended. The sight lines are pretty good. I was interested in what JK said about the access to the Tennis and Cricket Clubs as they both generate a fair amount of traffic but having said that it didn't cause us an issue either in or out of the site.

We were there after improvement work had taken place as well.  Access was fine.  Exit was chaos due to members trying to get on site at 1130am as people including us were trying to leave.  Definitely single lane which would work fine if people abided by the rules (they are there for a reason) and didn't try and access site before stated time.  I did complain to CAMC at the time.

You don't need to complain to the Club. Just make the blighters back up. When I leave a site I have three days water so can withstand quite a siege. wink

There is a storage compound at Cirencester. Whilst it wouldn’t be very sensible returning to it at 11:30, as even with the enhancements two big rigs meeting  could cause problems, I’ve no idea if it is prohibited.

Just Arrived at Cirencester club site..

The access road is so overgrown with grass and weeds each side the rocks are hardly visible. Making it even more cringe worthy...

What is the club doing about improving the situation.?

Talking to a few here there have been some very tense and angry stand offs with meetings half way down lane...

How much is a set of traffic lights.????

Again, it’s out of the club's hands.
