We have I think 14 booked for May/June, some CAMC which we rebooked for this year when they were cancelled in Lockdown 1, some with deposits which we asked to be transferred. When we did it we thought we would be OK, now not so sure. Even if OK to go, there is the question as to wether some of our booked sites in NW Scotland will open for business. Hopefully we will at least be OK for our booking at Hawes in July. Not done anything beyond then, as we have a ferry booked for over there in September.

Good move to book the Scottish sites, Steve, as I think the world  and his wife will be heading north of the border.

I’ve booked my normal week a month starting in April and ending in September, but this year with the addition of October. But the earlier months will obviously be at risk. We’ll all just have to wait and see unfortunately

Interestingly a CL I've booked in July waived the deposit just in case things fell apart again, although I would willingly have paid it.

I'm now looking for a CL or CS in the SW, nearer to home for a possible earlier break after Easter. It gives us something to look forward to at the moment however precarious!

We changed our bookings from May to September this year as we moved them last to this year so hop goes all ok and only doing 2 sites in Cornwall now instead of Devon and Cornwall.

JK where are you this year? Hope the season goes well for you.

Freddy there's an update which I expect you heard or read..."Over 50s rush to book holidays"  BBC LINK

Can't help thinking. like you, there might be a rush to cancel unfortunately as the vaccination programme is going to take quite a long time to reach all those intended age groups.

Hi David, lets be diplomatic and say that,as a married man,and after being together for over 46 years, one tends toward the things that are likely to please!

As said by some dog walkers I meet ,after many years of being together ,One needs a different perspective on the world,  than that you hear most days at homewink

I see it as good news and wish them well. Last thing I want to see is another operator go under especially Tui as they are interested in picking up the Thomas Cook Cuba destinations..

The good news today for us is the over 70s announcement so its getting closer.wink

David, - Have you checked on the Thomas Cook website to see if they are going to your part of Cuba?

Has your static got a flotation kit fitted as those on the river bank at Evesham are so fitted,  after the big flooding a few years back?surprised

Posted on 18/01/2021 10:51

Yes JVB flotation fitted to all vans on site by the owners, and maintained by them. Hydraulics fitted front and back, so if it does flood the van just rises. Also we have 'new for old' insurance, so we never worry if it floods. It doesn't usually get that high though as the van is raised as well. One of the reasons we bought on a flood plain is to ensure the site won't get sold to a housing developer, as so many others are.

  1. Yes but the nearest they fly to is an 8 hour road journey away.

Fair enough!. It's just that we only realised last week that Thomas Cook still existed!
