UK staycation boom predicted

Haven't booked anywhere yet, except the motorhome service but have yet to see if that happens at booked time? It does require a bit of inspired guesswork to think when we might first get away. Hopefully we will get our vaccination letters this week but even if we have them in January we are still (personally) locked down to the end of February. It seems that even if the current high level of national lockdown is relax it will be back into the tiered system so whether realistically we will get away much before April/May is uncertain. I am beginning to wonder if we will cope with and ordinary year!!!!

In the hope that we will be allowed to travel, we have rebooked part of our planned Easter 2020 tour, but shortened it in distance and duration.

OH has booked 2 CAMC sites, 1 CL (deposit carried over from last year) and 2 CCC sites, so we will be no further from home than we can travel in one day.  Furthest destination will be Inverness, and only 3 weeks away rather than 5.

Now thinking about booking sites for June/July going south.

Are you personally pulling your caravan K? Might be quicker if you use your car to do the towing smile

Have a great trip and hope it happens.

If you find yourself looking for a site in the Inverness area, I can thoroughly recommend West Beach at Hopeman. Beachside location on the Moray Firth, one of the nicer sites I’ve found in recent times - great Fish & Chip shop and Chinese in the village in addition to the small on-site kitchen. Brilliant for Dolphin watching, and if you’re lucky, the Northern Lights.

Inverness is an area we sometimes visit so thanks for the Useful recommendation for the Hopeman site. We usually stay at the CCC site at Foyers on Loch Ness - we have family a couple of miles away so very convenient.

Apparently today, and the third Monday of every January, is Blue Monday - known as the most depressing day of the year!

Although some say that it's just a PR concept created by holiday companies to drive up bookings. I am sure the club making that news story on the day before Blue Monday is a complete coincidence, must be otherwise there's a really really clever person working at head office, what's a really really clever person doing working for the club?

(Apologies to Jasper Carrot and Benny)

Looks nice,  but for the period we will be there it seems they are requiring a 7 day booking.   Refused a 4 day one when OH tried.

Tried June too......also only 7 day bookings available.    Is this usual?

I think we may have driven past it a couple of years back when we were last up there as we drove along the coast and stopped in Burghead.

That is one of the sites OH has booked, we have splashed out and gone for a serviced pitch.  Using their (well north of) Oban site too.

Wasn’t a requirement when I was there mid September - maybe a sign of the times? That coastal area has much to offer, stunning wild beaches between Nairn and Burghead including lovely Findhorn - overnight stay in car park allowed.

As far as Loch Ness is concerned we stayed at Loch Ness in Fort Augustus - nice well situated site if you’re looking for something a bit upmarket, but price to march
