Why Does Easter last 18 days with CAMC?

Thought we might use a fairly local site to us around the 11th.April, the Sunday after Easter Sunday. Yet the club has decided to charge High Season rates. £31+ for 2 adults on a decent site but not a honeypot and in need of a bit of TLC.

Unfortunately there are very limited alternatives in the area so I'll have to change plans and go where there is an alternative but not where I wanted to be in the first place.

I do remember when rates only went up from the Thursday before Good Friday and went back down on the following Tuesday. Ah, those were the days.

Of course this is supposing sites will be open by then.smile

It's because they know full well that there will plenty of owners out who will extend their Easter holiday into a 2 week break, and pay the big bucks without complaint.

Indeed WN, my friend,   We thought they'd NEVER end, we'd sing and dance a week past Easter Day  innocent

I imagine the prices are geared to the total length of the school holidays rather than just the days around the Easter weekend. We tend not to go away at Easter but being later and a possibility that COVID restrictions could be relaxed by then it could be the first opportunity for the Club to recover some of the money they have lost at other times?

It is becoming more obvious to us as we get older that what we consider "thats expensive" is it seems pocket money to many of the younger generations ,(or those that are still working now) after the first  lockdown ,   most sites that had opened were very busy,,

I have been advised that one took nearly  £ 37,000 more during the time they reopened untill it closed at the end of its season, than for the same period normally,

It will be quite interesting to see if the trend continues this year when? sites open ,

Site prices are these days more in line with school holidays, which in England also tends to encompass the Scots school holidays

I seem to recall that peak was always around the school holidays and one year with Easter either being very early or very late there was a three week window of peak prices as schools in different parts had different holidays.

I don't think that by Easter, things will have changed very much with regard to Covid restrictions - there will still be a very large percentage of the population still to be vaccinated. For this reason, we will be staying away from large sites and have booked into a CS not that far from home - where the prices never fluctuate according to season.

The answer is quite simple - greed although I think it could well be academic as I don't anticipate the restrictions ending much before May.

I think  you needed to add Accountants to the greed bit , as they seem to have sway over the majority of companies finances and charges these days before what in the past was profit and loss it is now more profit firstsurprised

We've booked for Easter but I can't see it happening.  The Government plan ( as far as they will have one) will be to open schools and try and get as many people back to wok but i don't think that will extend to the hospitality industry.  Look what happened with "eat out to help out" - turned out to be huge virus spreader.

Whilst a break would be nice we won't go until it's safe.

Just out of interest when you were looking at those cruises you are/did book, were the peak prices around the two weeks over Easter or Christmas or just for the BHs?
