Why Does Easter last 18 days with CAMC?

Thought we might use a fairly local site to us around the 11th.April, the Sunday after Easter Sunday. Yet the club has decided to charge High Season rates. £31+ for 2 adults on a decent site but not a honeypot and in need of a bit of TLC.

Unfortunately there are very limited alternatives in the area so I'll have to change plans and go where there is an alternative but not where I wanted to be in the first place.

I do remember when rates only went up from the Thursday before Good Friday and went back down on the following Tuesday. Ah, those were the days.

Of course this is supposing sites will be open by then.smile

Happens across the whole range of holiday period vacation market.

Happens in most areas of tourism and countries

We seldom tour in school holidays, only in normal times to places less frequented. But this year is going to be different, no doubt about it. We expect the price of everything holiday based in UK to be from slightly higher to taking the proverbial to be honest. The whole country is a captive market, it will be months yet before those preferring overseas can get overseas safely.

Us? We shall just do what we always do, mop up unused holiday opportunities hopefully at a discount price, be it in MH, or in a cottage.

I thinks its a particularly British thing Alan. Just flicked through the ACSI books looking for those that withdraw the discounted rates for Easter. In Spain and France its mostly not at all or around a week (did spot one of 10 days though), skip to the UK section and its almost universal but rarely for as much as 18 days.

Example We once arrived at a Spanish site on Good Friday  and only just got in but that's another story, the reception advised us to only initially book in for 2 days as the discounted Rate would be back on  Monday.

Not so in Italy, a number of campsites do increase their prices over holidays. Also what about airlines?

Yes, because particularly in Spain at Easter time the temperatures are not that great and the Spanish like it to be warm before venturing out in their caravans, so little point in hiking the price, you may get a few that venture out for 3 or 4 days over easter weekend to visit relatives but in the main not a big camping holiday for the Spanish undecided, your Good Friday site was probably full of Brits/Germans/Dutch still not returned froom over wintering.

There are options!

A well liked family owned site near me with about 30 pitches - with first class review scores - has a flat rate all year round including Easter and summer hols of £19 a night for hard standing and electrics. Although they wisely charge extra for those who like to heat their awnings.

CAMC can do better than that on it's £16 all in sites if someone is looking for a less expensive holiday. Much depends on where you want to go.

No I think we were about the only Brits there. Holy week is a big big thing and it was the only time I have seen a Spanish site full yet.

Posted on 15/01/2021 12:11

You must have found the only site that was full in Spain, i was on a very popular site Easter 2019, that was a particularly late Easter, but it was never full, yes it is Holy Week with lots of Spanish festivals but have never seen sites full of Spanish campers at that time of year undecided

Well next time you go invest in an ACSI card as I just had a quick flick through the Italian section and didnt see Easter picked out at one.

Most campsites and hotels will certainly put their prices up over national holidays. even if the holiday is a one day one the entire week (like the
Feast of the Immaculate Conception on a Wednesday this year) will be higher - been there seen it done it.

The motorhomers I travel with won't use ACSI sites, the card has a bit of too coatto (the noun not adjective) about itsmile
