Why Does Easter last 18 days with CAMC?

Thought we might use a fairly local site to us around the 11th.April, the Sunday after Easter Sunday. Yet the club has decided to charge High Season rates. £31+ for 2 adults on a decent site but not a honeypot and in need of a bit of TLC.

Unfortunately there are very limited alternatives in the area so I'll have to change plans and go where there is an alternative but not where I wanted to be in the first place.

I do remember when rates only went up from the Thursday before Good Friday and went back down on the following Tuesday. Ah, those were the days.

Of course this is supposing sites will be open by then.smile

Why would anyone book a holiday this easter anyway?
lets face it, if the caravan club took site fees up front they would have no money in the kitty as clearly these severe restrictions are going to be with us until at least May or June.

Yes the uk holiday industry has always hiked its prices to match school holidays, wether its here in a caravan or sitting on a beach on the Algarve. Forget easter holidays... it’s always bloody cold and wet anyway😂

Our first outing with our new and first van was Easter 2005. Because we booked so late the only place we could get was Malvern, which has a lot of grass. We ended up on it and it was a very wet weekend. There was some mud😂. Thoroughly enjoyed our first van holiday though, it was much warmer and dryer than our tent.😀 As AD says if you holiday in the UK it’s a risk you take.

For Easter we usually take 3-4 weeks and stay in Scotland,  We book CLs or CCC sites as Easter is not a peak period with them up here, so we also get the 60+ discount, and can book a hardstanding.

Later, we take a trip in June/July.  Before the school holidays up here, June is not peak with either club, but due to the 60+ discount, CCC will work out quite a bit cheaper for us.  We head south and in July will use  either CLs or CCC sites as, unlike on many CAMC sites, they do not bump up their prices in England until the English schools are off.  And again, we get the extra discount.

CCC is invariably cheaper for us, but often only due to the 60+ discount.

Facilities may not always be as  new and fancy as on CAMC sites, but as we mainly use our own, especially right now, we are not bothered.

Lower price per night = more nights away.  Being able to book a HS is also good.
