It's good to hear that members of CT are receiving their vaccinations, good luck to all those yet to have theirs. It seems like a long haul till we get everyone sorted and hear the results of the present vaccines.

I'm leaving this open for non political comments as per the guidelines. Hope you can add your own experiences and thoughts.

My first jab comes up tomorrow, I'm so glad we have research institutions that have got us this far! And I am planning breaks away in the hope of improvements on the horizon.

I’ve just heard that on the local news, M. They’ll get a day off instead. Pah!

Apparently it’s a funding issue, so they say🙄. I’d happily pay a bit more in taxes to ensure NHS staff are well rewarded. After all, we depend on them.

That's a long way south of our neck of the woods but I imagine the figures will be comparable 😟. We will just ignore it until we get back 🙂.

Anyone know if/when the PLF is due to be scrapped?

Also, I have just seen that Boots are selling LFT's at some exorbitant price.  They're only about 2 Euro each in Spain.

Very comparable I would think.

They are.......well a few at the top are.

"The five highest paid roles at the Royal Cornwall Hospital at Treliske have been revealed to come with annual pay cheques well over £130,000 each.

The salries within the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust (RCHT) are almost five times higher than the average wage in Cornwall and ten times higher than some of the hospital’s lowest paid roles.

The lowest paid roles receive just over minimum wage, getting paid £7.90 per hour, but less than the £8.45 Living Wage recommendations.

The hospital’s medical director, Malcolm Stewart, has an annual wage of £159,502, chief operating officer Rab McEwan earns £142,500 per year, director of finance Sally May takes home £140,390 and the director of clinical governance earns £130,357."

Yes, agree.

I'm just a bit puzzled about why it's the local health authority who have to stump up the money. What happened to all those squillions of pounds that we (the government) don't have to pay to Brussels any more?  undecided

You mean the £350m per week that was going to fund the NHS instead of the EU, mmm🤔

Does £5.99 now equal 2 Euro?

Another new variant might be at the root of the present Covid rates. I see Scotland has the highest rates since the outbreak, 1 in 19. I hope we learn more soon. I'll be ordering more test kits as family circumstances have needed frequent testing in our household. I think the free tests end late this month?
