Snap all round. Having looked at the BBC  Sounds photo, I understand the hat comment ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ. Very informative programme I thought. Good to hear about contour ploughing, I remember learning about that but then we in Essex dont do hills thankfully.

Frosty start here, sun's out now in between white, nice change from grey, clouds. Very warm in the conservatory. Breeze picking up but blowing my bedding nicely, should be dry enough to go straight back on with the lovely outdoor smell.

Aiming to go out and dead head, little else to do ๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ˜‡. Forget me nots are beginning to make a lovely show. We are in need of some moisture, overnight preferably thank you, as everything is very dry. That said there are still some very wet bits on the local estate which just proves how bad it's been! Mind you the ground is recovering well and grass poking through on some of the worse trampled/WW1 like areas- nature is pretty resilient ๐Ÿ˜€

Gave the front and back of the caravan a bit of a clean as we had picked up some dirty spray on the journey to the site on Tuesday. Mrs WN has sorted out the washing, all dry just in time for repacking.smile

The ladies went off and did some food shopping and I'v made some stuff up for the freezer for MiL.

Had a brief walk. Saw our first Swallows of the year. A pair sitting on some wires in a farmyard.

Bit of a chilly day, OH outside building up the pergola...a neighbour came to investigate, they'd both had wood from the same wood yard.

Happy travels to those adventurers who are "released" into the wilds tomorrow.

Eldest daughter has just taken on a four month old chihuahua, so much chatter shared about the new arrival. (Unexpected phone call and swift decision rather like we had from the rescue centre.) Followed by a rush to get pet equipment etc. She works at an agricultural college where there is a small animal section and the dog may have some part time socialising and day care when she is at work.

Lovely sunny evening but we have had damaging frosts, hope it warms up soon!

We have had some very strange weather today.  It started off with a frost followed by a lovely sunny but chilly morning.  After lunch we had a hailstorm, then a brief spell of sunshine and then it snowed. I don't know what is coming down from the sky at the moment but it is very wet and also very cold.  We have had some damaging frosts as well brue.  Our daughter as just reminded me that this weekend last year she had the paddling pool out in the garden as it was so warm!

We paid our respects to the DofE at the Cathedral yesterday morning. They have extended their opening hours for prayer and reflection and also to light a candle. It is all socially distanced with a one way system. No book of condolence though as it is all online.  We also went to a special service of Remembrance for him today.

Evening Millie, I was hoping you might be around๐Ÿ˜ Is the Cathedral open for visitors at the moment? We are hoping to pay a visit some time soon, along hopefully with a re visit to Ely if possible.

Evening tda. No sorry it is not open for general visiting just the nave for private prayer usually 12.00 - 2.00 but extended for a few days this week for people to pay their respects to the DofE. No general visiting or tours until at least the 17 May. I would imagine Ely will be the same sadly but they might have more info on  their website. Sad times.

We are packed and ready for the "big off" tomorrow morning, leaving early with the hope that the traffic will not be too chaotic. It is almost exactly 4 months since we came home from Cornwall having heard that my brother had died; Dad's gone too now so a sad few months but really looking forward to a new beginning now. We are fortunate in that our neighbours have been on site throughout keeping an eye on things for us, so all should be ok (but I'll breathe a bit easier once I've turned the water on without discovering any great disaster!)

Best of luck to all who are travelling tomorrow or in the coming weeks - better times have arrived, but let's all just remain vigilant, keep ourselves and everybody else as safe as possible. smile
