Welcome to all Dog lovers & generally Canine minded Folk. I have started this to enable a Thread to be used-in the Pet section with a title 'I love Dogs' so there will be no problems with attracting the right Posters, and the 'wrong Posters' give it a swerverCool. I am mainly a working Dog Lover, I have had-J/Russells, Retrievers, Lurchers. Currently have 2 White Cockapoo's. Mum & Daughter. Not my kind of Dogs(at first) the OH fell in love with the Breed a year after losing the Retriever. Now I couldn't imagine life without them. You either love Dogs or don't, if you do then life without them really is empty. I feel for the none Dog Folk, not knowing the joys of owning Dogs. But I'm not stupid enough to believe just because I love em everyone should. So if you would like to talk Canine, please be my guestSmile

I've not spotted any damage, Rocky. I think it must have been a gentle headbutt🙂.

A Lesser Spotted Woodpecker is a regular visitor to a feeder we have attached to the side of our garage. We also have a less welcome family of starlings who bully other birds away but when the woodpecker arrives they certainly know not to mess with it.laughing

He was certainly spotted, Nevers, but whether lesser or greater, I’d not like to say. He had the regulatory red top knot. We also get green woodpeckers occasionally. They seem to live in the small woodland across the road which is pretty much undisturbed due to the presence of old unsafe tin mine workings.

We've never had woodpeckers feeding in the garden but plenty of blackbirds, dunnocks, robins, crowd, jackdaws, magpies, finches and the odd jay but we've not seen starlings for years.

We get a lot of squirrels too. They’re braver these days as if they know no pesky dog is going to try to chase them up the tree😕

I know what you mean re the squirrels I have recently had to replace most of my feeders to supposedly “squirrel proof” ones. They seem to wait until we leave the house unoccupied, otherwise if we have the back door open I just need to say fetch and Tess goes out to chase them off. She used to go like a rocket but now she has slowed down so much and can’t be bothered.laughing

Stanley would give them a stern look through the window when he was past chasing them and that would often do the trick😀

Hello all, our beloved dally Jazz passed over the rainbow bridge last week at the grand age of 15.  We had already decided at the start of the year to start looking for another pup, and fingers crossed that should come to fruition shortly.  We cannot however decide on a name, so if any of you have any female dally suggestions please feel free.

Sorry to hear your news, JB. Words can’t express the feelings we have at such times. You'll never forget Jazz but the new pup will help fill the gap she left.

I'm not great with names and our dogs were rescue dogs already with names. I'd sure not have named our last boy Stanley but it did suit him in a way!

Hi JB, sorry to hear of your sad news.

I’m the same as TW our last three dogs were rescue so came with names that we tweaked slightly but still sounded the same to the dog. One was called Tyson that we quickly changed to Dyson which was much more suited to his temperament.

I’m sure a good name will come to you when you have her home, good luck and I wish you many happy years ahead whatever name you choose.smile

Another offer of condolences for your loss JB, she’ll never be beaten but the love you have to give certainly deserves a home. A friend(Female) has a wonderfully sweet cockapoo called Jess, when she greets people she lays on our feet on her back & my friend always giggles & says-‘what a Jessy you are’, & she is such a sweet girl.

Cooler this morning & sunny, much better for man & beasts. Happy but exceptionally wet Dogs. The hay is cut on the meadow & has had its first turn for drying, the Dogs love running over it at speed. They were drenched but happy to be out of the heavy humidity I’m thinking. They are now curled up on the sofa on double beach towels, happy days. Only one sighting of a Roe Buck this morning, I just caught sight of his velvet covered tines slipping thru the near copse. I expected to see a great many more Deer since the lockdowns but thus far they’ve not fed thru to more hooves on the ground. Someone will be enjoying the increase in numbers. Have a great day😊
