Our Stay at Airview Farm CL

What a brilliant 2 weeks we have just had staying at this great CL. Richard and Judy are a most friendly and welcoming couple - always available for any help / advice regarding surrounding area for walking/sightseeing etc. The site itself is excellent, pitches large and flat and the recent intro of a shower is a great addition. We also got on great with the chickens which visited us most days - one even invited itself into our awning and sat clucking on the caravan step waiting for some food - really funny. The weather for the 2 weeks was brilliant so all in all what a great break we had - would certainly like to return again and anyone thinking of booking - you will not be disappointed. Well done Richard and Judy and thanks for a great 2 weeks.

Great find

This was the first CL we have ever stayed on and it was not our last. Airview was the second site of our three week plus tour of seven sites in the south west of England. We were so pleased; the facilities were very good even though we did not really use them, having all we need onboard. The owners are so friendly, the pitches generous and well kept. Big bonus none of the other caravaners had dogs, perfect tranquillity. Great base for the New Forest and this part of Hampshire.

Second Visit

Last visited in August 2013 shortly after this very well appointed site was opened.  It has matured nicely since then and now has a loo and shower.  As before, the owners keep everything in immaculate order.  It's hard to see how they can improve it further other than perhaps by adding Wi-Fi which was mooted last time.  Good TV reception is assured through the bollard connections.  The site used to enjoy almost direct access South of Mockbeggar Lane into the Bashford Lakes Nature Reserve and the Avon Valley Path to Ringwood but sadly this has been padlocked resulting in a bit of a road detour which is a shame.  However, the path running North from the site past private lakes to the Avon Valley Path to Fordingbridge remains open and there are endless walking opportunities to the East in the New Forest.  The generally level terrain and quiet back roads make it good for cycling.  There are a couple of pubs and a well stocked farm shop with cafe a short walk away.  Our only slight criticism last time was the road noise from Mockbeggar Lane which the 6 well spaced pitches back onto but the cattlegrid into the New Forest which was the cause of some of the noise last time was not noticeable.  The site is grassed, firm and flat and near the secure gated entrance has been gravelled and reinforced so there shouldn't be any problem in the wet.  Access to the site off Mockbeggar Lane and the busy Salisbury Ringwood road which can just be heard in the distance continues to be good.  The site has a peaceful and open feel about it with plenty of space and a fine view over a large hay field that is frequented by deer and with trees and hedgerows beyond.  We benefitted by being able to bring our son last time but it is now an adults only site which helps preserve the peace.  The area has an interesting history as it is the site of the former RAF Ibsley which was occupied by British and allied airforces and troops during WW2 but there isn't much evidence of that now.  With a car there is no shortage of places to visit and things to do.  The nearest supermarkets including a Waitrose are at Ringwood but there are also shops at Fordingbridge.

Both Richard and Julie are superb hosts very friendly and welcoming .The site is well maintained with the bonus of a great shower and loo in the wooden hut at the end of the field which also has information about the area and lovely free range eggs available. Easy access via a coded gate and very spacious pitches .We look forward to returning in the near future.

One of the best CL's we have stayed on

We have just returned from 12 nights at this lovely site, and will definitely be back.  This is a fantastic CL which Richard and his wife should be very proud of. The access is good and the pitches are spacious.  The grass is well kept and the coin operated shower and toilet is immaculate. There is lots of useful information available in the hut where the toilet and shower are located.  Good  location close to the New Forest with lovely walks close by.   We enjoyed several excellent meals at the Old Beams Inn just 10 minutes leisurely walk from the site, and the Alice Lyle, slightly further to walk, was also well worth a visit.

Lovely site

We spent 12 nights here in July. It is a lovely site easy to get to. Beautiful location overlooking fields with access via coded gate. New Forest attractions and Dorset beaches are within easy reach. There are 2 very good pubs within walking distance. The owners are very nice helpful people. Highly recommended.

For countryside and wildlife lovers

We stayed at airview for 8 nights. A lovely site overlooking farmers field. Backs onto a road, a little busy at "commuter" times, but really didn't bother us at all. Site about 2.5 miles out of Ringwood and entrance is highlighted by two giant tree stumps , key pad entrance.  Spotless showers and loo. Coin operated , leisurely shower 40p and for me to wash long hair 60p.  Was a godsend in the torrential rain we had some days, saved all that fetching and carrying.  Plenty of supermarkets and shops in Ringwood, highly recommend BTP cafe next to Waitrose. Nice walk about 20 mins to local farm shop, great meat and little cafe there. Turn left out of site and walk across cattle grid and as houses peter out turn right over tiny bridge and wow you are up on the heath and the world is your oyster! Red Shoot pub nearest, High Corner inn next one along, and a good hike is The Royal Oak at Fritham.   When we were here there was a Hampshire art trail, open house was excellent. Also nice visit to Holmsley The Station House tea rooms and great walk along the disused railway track. The crowning glory is a seasonal track almost opposite the site into Blashford Nature reserve, I think it opens April to Sept (from memory). 7pm walk saw fallow deer, kingfishers, geese, ducks, swans and gulls and the most amazing sunsets. Magic. If you drive to the car park round the other side it is all gravelled and suitable for pushchairs and mobility scooters etc.  Richard and Julie were very welcoming and seem to have created the sort of caravan site they would like to stay on and so did we, we are planning our next visit.  Thank you for a lovely stay.

First class stay

This is a lovely level and well cared for site. The facilities are excellent and well thought out and the owners charming and helpful. Access so easy too through a huge gate with electronic keypad. We had a super three night stay. There is a very small amount of road noise, but really nothing to worry about. Big pitches and a lovely outlook over a hay field. Richard advised us to go for a high number if we liked evening sun (5). So we did and sat out in the sun with a G&T. Walked to the pub through the nature reserve - wee bit challenging and overgrown, so came back via a very quiet road and had a lovely evening. Most of the local pubs are typical 'pub grub', but none the worse for that. Very nice walks from the site and right in the heart of the New Forest. Lovely site, lovely stay and we shall certainly return.

Excellent CL

This incredible CL is a credit to it's owners. From the ease and friendliness of booking, to the wonderful room of the pitches this is a gem of a site. There is a little road noise but we did not find it a problem. We will certainly be back, so thank you Julie and Richard.
