Lovely site. Minutes off the A66. Great views. Handy for all the Lake District has to offer, scenery, walks, pub grub. Very friendly but not intrusive owner just lets you get on with it. Toilet and shower in part of the farm buildings, spotless although showering in winter may be a bit cool! Can recommend the farm shop just off the A66 just before the site.We were lucky with the weather too. Sure we will visit this site again
Fantastic Lake District Holiday
Our family together with my sister-in-law's family with our caravans decided to go on our main holiday to the Lake District. Normally for our main holiday we stop on Caravan Club run sites, but this time we decided to take a chance and stop on a CL.
We all loved this site, the owner is a real character and great source of information. He even got our young boys (10 and 11) to help him with taking up the recycling and didn't mind when we played rounders in his fields.
The view from the site is splendid, but as a consequence it is exposed so make sure you pin the awning down well!
A great value site and a great value holiday, if we come back to the Lake District we'd definately stop here again. Wholly recommended.
Nice CL
Stayed for a long weekend.Great location just off a66. 10mins drive to Keswick, lots of walks nearby.site is quiet and surrounded by fields and hills.pitches slightly sloping.has toilet and shower.these are housed in an outbuilding but this was surprisingly fairly warm and the shoewr was nice.friendly owner.good value.we'll be back.
Peaceful CL with superb access to the Lake District
Our party consisted of 2 adults and 2 kids (2 and 5 years) and a 4 berth caravan. We stayed for 4 nights mid week.
The site is directly off the A66 with sounds of very distant road noise. The site is well kept and all 5 pitches are hard standing. Adequate electric points, waste bins and recycling facilities with chemical waste point. There is only one drinking water tap but its not too far away.
The farm house is around 150 yards away and there is a toilet cubicle and separate shower which takes 20p pieces for around 2 minutes showering time. Functional facilities in good condition.
We paid in advance and didn't meet the farmer - Mr Bird - until our third day as he is very busy and said he lets the CL pretty much run itself unless there is a problem. Nice fella and very helpful. He is around during the day but we were always off site in the daytime so only saw him early in the morning.
The only criticism I have is that its a bit tight to reverse on to the pitches but that's it! We will certainly be visiting again as for £10 per night it is just superb.
