I stayed at Beckthwaite at the end of November 2012. This CL has a fantastic location right in the centre of Coniston. There is a quiet back street road that leads to the high street pubs / Cumberland Sausage and real ale. The view from the pitch of the Old Man of Coniston mountain is also superb. I've stayed in Coniston the last 18 years and this compares very favourably with the pubs and cottages I've previously used. The CL owner and his wife were friendly and welcoming. It's a shame the previous reviewer wasn't happy, personally I saw the existence of a WC as a bonus. We'll certainly be beck next year.
