Half Term Break in Bath

A great find... Merv and Lyn were very welcoming. Biggest welcome pack we have ever received. Easy access to bus routes - 4 & 4a to Bath, 6 minute walk away and are every 15 mins. Had a great few days will definitely come back again!

Good location but access to the site is rubbish

We have stayed here for 5 nights for its access to Bath. The access to the site is very tight made worse with parked cars on the narrow approach road. Some pitches are difficult to get on if your unit is a caravan and moreso f you don't have motor movers. Leaving the site is worse. I would recommend you don't use this site if you have a twin axle caravan without movers or a wider bodied caravan. Everything else is as per other reviews regarding greeting and nice people etc.

Comment from the Club:

Thank you for leaving a review and we are delighted that you enjoyed the location of the CL Site. The CL Owner has been in touch to address your concerns with regards to the entrance. They send a brochure which shows the layout of the site to all guests. Whilst there are sometimes parked cars on one side before access to the site, there is still space of 12 to 13 feet available. The driveway entrance measures 11 feet 6 inches, with 23 feet from driveway into the CL. The CL has advised that many double axle vans and small american motorhomes have used this site since they opened.

Great location however site in need of TLC!

Site in need of lots of TLC, looking really tired. It's a tight squeeze in and out with a caravan, some less experienced will struggle. Serviced pitch, which is good. Great information pack. Farm shop in owners conservatory. If location is key to you and you don't mind what the campsite looks like, you'll be ok. We were disappointed. Nice people though.

Comment from the Club:

We are delighted you found the location good and the serviced pitch. The CL has been in touch as he would like to assure you they take good care of their CL Site, which was inspected earlier in the year. With regards to the entrance, they send a brochure which shows the layout of the site to all guests. Whilst there are sometimes parked cars on one side before access to the site, there is still space of 12 to 13 feet available. The driveway entrance measures 11 feet 6 inches, with 23 feet from driveway into the CL.

Good stay in Bath

We arrived at the site slightly concerned given the previous 2 reviews. However, no problem siting the caravan. Lyn was there to welcome us with a comprehensive information pack and a friendly welcome. The site's main attraction is the convenience to Bath. Newbridge Park and Ride is a 10 minute walk away, which we used twice with our bus passes. We have used CLs for many years and we enjoy the variety of sites with their differences. If you want a standardised site with all facilties then Club sites are probably best suited.

Great CL hosts Merv and Lyn.

We needed a CL within walking distance of Bath centre for a couple of nights. If going to Bath again we would definitely stay here. When we arrived , Merv and Lyn made us very welcome and gave us one of the most comprehensive welcome/ info packs we’ve ever seen. Nothing was too much trouble. Merv walked down to the pitches and explained everything in detail. Each pitch has its own tap and hook up. The pitches are paving slabs, some a little uneven but almost level. We really enjoyed our stay and this couple are some of the nicest and most caring we’ve come across. Well worth a visit.

Great site and location

This is a great little site in an ideal location for exploring Bath. The owner is very helpful and gives you a bundle of local information on arrival. Their farm shop has the best fresh eggs at a very reasonable price. We walked into Bath from the site though there is a park and ride nearby. We will definitely stay here again!

great for Bath

We booked this site as we wanted to walk into Bath itself. This we did but due to the heat we decided to drive in the next time. The welcome from Merv was very personal and it was clear he had been doing this for many years. Yes the site needed a bit more TLC especially the grass cutting around the hard standings. Some pitches are way out of level. Our perception was that he liked to do everything himself and had done so for 30 years. Cannot fault the owners for enthusiasm and honesty. At £16.50 it was well worth it. Bath Marina is double that. Its' a CL after all. I would have been disappointed if we had been parked by the barn as were the previous reviewers. That would have driven us to a 50% negative review as does bad weather!! Check this before you book as it is a popular site.. The longer term vans were no problem to us and wherein fact the occupants were quite friendly. Not sure why there are 6 hardstandings for 5 vans. Lacock village and Abbey were well worth the visit and highly recommended. You can visit the village without paying for the Abbey, apart from parking. The travel directions are fine if travelling from the /north and do follow them. We came up from the south and headed for the A36 and the A431. BEWARE this route will take you into the Bristol LEZ. Check on the relevant website to see if you need to pay. Euro 6 is fine. Ours is Euro 5 but no details on the Government website so exempt. You have up to 6 days to pay the £9 charge. So check and check again. Merv recommended that you travel via Frome. Ring them for advice if any doubt. That info needs to be on the CAMC website. Would we stay again? Yes at the cost and close proximity to Bath. Many CL's are upping their game and it is now a competitive market with fees rising way above £20.

Give this one a miss

Yet again we find an over subscribed site. When I booked Merv said that only the 'barn pitch' was available and would that be OK? I assumed I was still on the CL. No. We paid £16.50 per night using the CAMC introduction to be shoved in a dark tight hole next to the green barn and adjacent rubbish dump. From the hab door we could see bottles of old cooking oil, twisted metal, weeds, a broken car etc. We had no use of outside space but use of services. We had electric, water and chemical toilet disposal. On the second night we moved onto the CL site where there was a spare pitch. Merv came out and shouted at us to move from the balcony of his house, some 70 yards away. It would have put 6 vehicles on his site and he didn't want complaints. He seemed to think his was doing us a favour letting us park where he did. I would have preferred to have been told the CL was full and we would have booked elsewhere. I thought I was booking a CL. I was not! As for the actual CL. It's scruffy with a tight entrance difficult for caravans. The recycling area was good. Water and electric on each pitch. Pitches of broken paving slabs that are level crossways but not fore and aft. Loud peacock in the morning. Lots of road noise. Other caravans being permanently lived in adjacent. Have to pay in advance by cheque plus wants you to include a SAE so they can send you local info. Plus having done that you must go up to introduce yourself at the farm shop. I didn't find the owners accomodating in the slightest and they weren't bothered we were unhappy with the sitaution. There are better places to stay in Bath near the park and ride bus service. Don't bother with this one.

Great Site for Accessing Bath on Foot,Bicycle, or Car

We chose this site as the only one genuinely within Bath City. The site is blessed with mains water services on each pitch which is great news. The access drive is steep and the turn onto the CL site for longer caravan and car combinations is tight but achievable. Egress offers the same challenges. I would suggest this site favours the motorhome more than caravan but that said we are approaching 14m combined and were able with care to locate our pitch and settle. The site is level but in March was heavily waterlogged around the flag stones meaning the awning carpet was below the water level when walked upon - but that is what its for!! The welcome was a very thorough briefing by Merv with a comprehensive welcome pack leant out for the duration of the stay (1 week). The site is high up relative to Bath but walking into town is easy along the main roads or via the river and canal bank. Easy access to the NCN and cycle routes for the 2 tunnels and Bath scenery. A great location for the fit who want to self-propel themselves. Less fit should not underestimate the hills. Merv and Lynn needed an approximate 60% deposit on booking with the balance due on arrival. The site is functional and for us gave us the access to the city we wanted both on foot and bike. Car parking was plentiful albeit the local council parking payment methods were difficult to follow and we struggled to get a signal in order to pay the CP charges!! Overall for a CL site in a popular place like Bath with mains water this is a little gem of a site as a base to spring from. Aesthetically bland but peaceful with local amenities and shops relatively close. Hosts were available and as a smallholding there were local supplies they could supply. We hope tol stay there again in the future. Thank you both

Close to Bath

Compact site with EHU and fresh water on each pitch and each pitch has a hardstanding of paving slabs to the width of a caravan. Helpful owners who run an on site farm shop with fresh duck eggs! The site is close to Bath and you can walk in via the river path.
