Fantastic site

We spent a wonderful 9 nights here over August Bank holiday and weill definately return. The site is lovely and clean well kept and quiet with only a small road running passed. Bakewell Buxton and Matlock are very close by for visiting and shopping. We did have some overnight rain but the pitches were dry and no problem driving on or off. There are public footpaths all over the area and we found some great walks away from roads. One word of advise tho the stiles thro can be rather tight and we often had to go up on tip toe to pass thro them but added to the experience. Yourgrave is a lovely village within easy walking from the site and has 2 sets of public toilets! Go on and try this great CL. Thanks Nicole for having such a really great site.

Didn’t want to leave!

Just returned from this beautiful, well kept site amidst stunning countryside. As others have said, it’s a great set up. The location is superb with Youlgreave within walking distance and the start of the Lathkill Dale walk. Plenty of stopping places for picnics or pub stops. Delicious ice cream and deli in the village of Youlgreave as well as a post office selling a decent selection of wine. Can’t wait to return!

Absolutely Brilliant CL.

This is an absolutely brilliant CL, and is wholeheartedly recommended. It is clean, neat and extremely well maintained. It has no toilets or showers, but each pitch is fully serviced so that it is ideal for those willing to use their motorhome/caravan's shower and toilet. It is also good value at the current price of £22. The chemical disposal facility is clean and easy to use, and the waste and recycling bins are emptied daily. The extremely nice owner, Nicola, is friendly and helpful. While we were there we had the pleasure of lambs on the adjoining field. They rushed to the fence to meet us whenever we strayed near - perhaps they thought that we had come to feed them ... A totally lovely CL, ideal for those who enjoy the countryside and are happy to use their on-board facilities. The location is extremely beautiful, and there are picture postcard villages within reasonable walking distance. The village of Youlgrave has two village shops, pubs with food and the Old Bakery take-away with seating outside which serves excellent food until 2 pm. The YHA operated old Co-op restaurant is less good, less friendly and also closes at 2 pm. The woodland and riverside walk to Youlgrave is particularly pleasant.

Lovely CL

Lovely CL site, super tidy and great owners. Fabulous surroundings with walks in all directions incorporating stunning scenery, wildlife, ancient history and best of all pubs! Having broken down whilst there, the locals couldn't have been more helpful and we managed to get back under steam despite being a bank holiday weekend thanks to a local garage. Will be back.

One site not to be missed !!!

August Bank holiday weekend + a few days after. This is a beautifully site, well kept and we were made very welcome. Water and grey waste drain on each pitch. Handy location about half way between Bakewell and Matlock. There is a great pub (Druids Inn) 2 miles away with good food and good beer. (You have to book a table). Walking to Lathkil dale, Youlgrave and Over Haddon are great walks and can be completed from the site. This next paragraph is "Just in Case" to defend Nicola, the site owner as I understand she had received an email of complaint from our caravan neighbour, about our dog and the cost of her pitch. As this may be followed up by a poor review, I wish to put things straight as any poor review would be totally unfair. One, this lady knows the price of the site when she booked it! Two, this year we have been caravanning for about 6 weeks on CL's which accept dogs and there have been no issues with the conduct of our cocker spaniel. In fact most people think he is quite cute. He is well behaved, comes back to a call, and does not roam more than 10 yards from our caravan. (he would be too scared) Unfortunately, this break we were next to this lady and sole caravaner, who kept her dog in the caravan all day apart from taking it out in her car. Every time you walked by the caravan her dog would continually yap and when she went to her car or passed our caravan our cocker returned the compliment with a couple of barks but not continuous.

'Piqued' Interest

We tend to use the Club’s CL network because of their intimacy, and often more rural appeal. Broadmeadow Farm CL is no exception, what is rather unique is that all the pitches are fully serviced, with their own dedicated fresh water taps and Grey Waste drain, a point other reviewers have highlighted. The very friendly and approachable site owner, Nicola, maintains the site in immaculate condition, the views are spectacular, with several walks directly from the site, Alport and Youlgreave are within easy walking distance to visit and for a quick top up of essentials. Haddon Hall, who’s estate the farm partly sits on, is also well worth a visit. Chatsworth House and Estate are less than 5 miles away, and there’s a couple of cycle trails nearby for the more energetic. We would very much hope to pay more visits to this gem of a CL, which is peace and quiet personified, even given the fact it’s a working farm. If there could be a site upon which CL’s were to be modelled, this would be it, and it’s strange how, even after a few days, the ambiance of the place remains so strong.

"Charming"

Wonderful little cl site, owner very polite and helpful. Tap next to electric hookup, Great walks around surrounding area (Lathkil Dale, Youlgreave, Haddon Hall, Etc) but sadly only had a one night stay (15/08/2020) but we shall be back later in the year. Great site if you want to walk to Bakewell its pretty much central to all the above locations. We had a campervan and did not find any issues with the roads leading to the cl site.

Excellent site

This is our 3rd stay here. We absolutely love it. Nicola keeps it very clean and tidy. It’s great having fully serviced pitches. It is so quiet and peaceful. Great walks from campsite. Good pubs and shop in youlgreave which is a short walk away. Highly recommend this site

Good campsite

Lovely campsite, well kept and quiet. Wonderful to have full facilities at each pitch, water electricity and drainage. The only downside was that the TV reception was stated as being ‘good’ when it was actually nonexistent. Other campers on site said they didn’t get a reception either. When approaching its best to come in from the B5056 and not through Alport as the road is very winding and not suitable for caravans

Just what was needed!

This site in spite of being on a working farm is so quiet only the occasional car going up / down the lane and the odd tractor. It is very well situated for access to Bakewell ,Matlock , Matlock Bath Cromford and various other places of interest .If you are prepared to walk there is a lovely walk from the site down into Lathkill Dale, you can make it as long or short as you wish but be prepared for hills after all this is Derbyshire. the site is well kept with grass cut regularly. Only a couple of points 1. there are some ruts in grass where the electrics/water supply have been put in so be careful not to trip or twist an ankle , 2. why is it more expensive to stay for less than a week £14 a night if you stay 7 nights or more or £ 16 a night for less than 7 nights.I really can't see what difference it makes how long your stay is.
