A lovely little hide-away

We stayed for 8 nights on this lovely site. Will definately come again - very popular - book early. Lots of farm noise (cows mainly) was lovely to hear and very tranquil, it gfelt miles from anywhere but really easy to get to. Great for walkers and our dog loved it too!!!

Fantastic!

Stayed for four nights prior to the Easter weekend and had an excellent stay with glorious weather. The site is very well presented with hard standing for your caravan and plenty of grass for the awning. We were met by the owner who was very friendly and welcoming. We went out for a walk from the caravan every day exploring the glorious Peak District. Plenty of places of interest to visit - Bakewell, Stanton Moor and Chatsworth. Will certainly be going back again soon I hope.

nice and simple

stayed for three nights in early April with our new caravan. it rained on and off every day and night so the field became waterlogged at the back off the hard standings as previously mentioned but no problems getting on and off. The local area is stunning and there are some nice local pubs . Will be back soon

Nice and very quiet basic CL with no frills like flower beds or seating. The grass area behind the hard standings becomes waterlogged during heavy rain but wasn't to much of a problem for us. Easy to find and the entrance onto site good. Grass on CL not cut but again no problem although can be very wet when walking across to facilities after heavy rain. Lots to do in area. Without doubt will return. Thanks for a nice few days.

Easy site to find and a warm welcome. Limestone chipping hardstandings were fine, but the approach through the gate was over the same limestone chippings that seem to have caused some problems for recent arrivals as they had missed the track and churned up the grass edgings. Levelling blocks were required even on the hardstanding we were on. bins emptied daily and the owner family at the adjacent farm are nice, friendly and helpful. TV reception was great for us...status aerial set to 'vertical' rather than the normal horizontal position, and pointed towards the middle of the wood on the hill behind the site. Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall, Youlgreave and Bakewell are all within a 10 minute drive. walking trips along Bradford Dale and Lathkill Dale were a delight. Recommended.

Quiet, peaceful site

Another relaxing long weekend at a newly discovered cl. We shall definitely return. It was easy to find and the road and turning were not too narrow. The hard standing was a bonus for £10 a night. There were many places to reach easily with the car and several walks from the site itself. We were in the area during Chatsworth show weekend and treated to an air display by the Red Arrows. On the site itself we were treated to another flying display by a couple of buzzards that obviously live in the nearby copse. Everyone was very friendly too.

Nice and quiet

We are at a stage where we like peace and tranquility and this site has it, along with a nice view over fields. We have just returned from a weekend there and thoroughly enjoyed it, so much that we booked for another visit in 4 weeks. Yes it is a working farm and the owner was very apologetic for the noise, but it was fine to us. I was told by her that the TV signal was poor, but I managed to get the 5 main channels with another couple such as E4 and BBC News with my roof aerial. We were lucky with the weather except for Saturday night when it hammered it down for 10 hours and the road and field immediately behind the vans were waterlogged. The owner tells us that he has permission to dig this up and arrange for the water to flow away, which will alleviate the problem, but to be fair it had been torrential. The site backs onto the road but it is not a busy road. There is a choice of 4 hardstandings or 2 grass pitches and the hardstandings are just the width of a van so any awning erected would be on grass. The electric is 16A, so fine for the chillier days when heating is utilised. A nice walk into Youlgreave or a short drive into Bakewell. The footpath into Youlgreave has a couple of very narrow stone stiles, which one of our Labradors could not squeeze through, got stuck, and had to be lifted over and no she is not rotund. At £10 a night it certainly ticked the boxes for us.

Nice place.

Very friendly couple running the CL working farmers so you have smells, animals and tractor noise from very early in morning until late at night. The farmer never stops! Basic, fairly cheap, beautiful views from all angles, right outside Bakewell and 8 miles from Chatsworth House. Poor tv signal all I got was BBC1 and news channel and Cbeebies! Would return if in area.
