Great Quiet Location

We have just spent 3 nights at Carlton Grange. What a great place it is, set in the open countryside and peacefully quiet. Very well set up and cared for, chemical disposal area clean and tidy, as are the different recycling bins. Good water point in the 1/2 acre field, each pitch with 16A hookup point. Pitches are well spaced so you are not on top of each other. Straight from the field there are numerous dog walks where you can walk for miles in the wonderful countryside. Jess and family run a very good site, we shall definitely be returning to Carlton Grange.

pleasant site

We stayed here for a few days, not knowing what to expect with the covid restrictions, and found the site was well catered for the covid restrictions. Hand gel was everywhere, the bins, taps etc. When someone left the site the electric point was cleaned everytime. I do not know about the toilet as it was closed due to the covid. I am one of the people that have to be careful with mixing and was unsure if we would be "safe", but had no fears at all once we arrived. The site is clean, well spaced with trees around it and then distant fields. We found lots to do without mixing with other people, walks from the site and in the area around. Picturesque rides and under normal times lots of villages to explore. Will go back again when hopefully life will be more normal

Wonderful Site

Visited this site for the first time in July 2020. It won’t be the last! This site is in a peaceful, location with great views. Attention to detail by Jess and her husband ensure the site is well kept with regular cutting. Ample recycling facilities are available. Jess responded promptly when booking. Thank you both for a great stay.

Simply perfect!

A basic CL that is simply perfect if you want peace and quiet, lovely views and great hosts. The site is mown, with cuttings removed, there is electric hook up, very clean / modern waste disposal and an outside WC. Owners are great but not intrusive but equally very happy to help or give suggestions. Site is not totally level (it’s not bad at all - we have an estate car and had no issues) so blocks handy; it drains very quickly. Fantastic dog friendly walks in abundance from the site and surrounding area, which is not always the case in Yorkshire; with two large dogs this can make it break it for us. Helmsley a great little town to have as a base and we enjoyed a number of meals out (local taxi firm charges £10.00 each way). All in all a great site, smashing owners and lots and lots to do in the area. Thoroughly recommended.

What a lovely CL - Great location and stunning views

Jess, What a lovely CL you have. Access is very easy and the directions on the web took us straight there. Easy to find and only a couple of miles from the stunning market town of Helmsley. Located at the base of the NY Moors National Park we came for hill walking. The site is located right next to a national walk and a number of bridleways. SIte: 1/2 Acre paddock with 16 Amp EHU to each pitch Recycling and normal refuse in easy to access wheelie bins Chem loo point very modern and clean with a hose and water. Water point at bottom of paddock. Slightly sloping down, but makes site drain well and stunning views of the valley ahead. Only noise was birds and the lambs. Outside toilet (Next to house) that caravaners may use. Very good 4G signal (O2). Excellent TV signal (Freeview 200 channels). Price is amazing value! £11 for EHU, and also use of a toilet seems to cheap! Jess - You need to put your prices up ;) Looking forward to returning in the near future.

Great quiet campsite

We have just returned from 5 nights stay at Carlton Grange campsite. We took our two dogs and this campsite offered great walks from the site through forests and onto the wonderful open moor. Beautiful scenery overlooking the hilly moors a short distance away, the forests having lots of different wildlife to see if you are lucky. We visited Helmsley a busy market town, lots of individual shops to look around, fish and chips and market on Fridays. Thirsk a short distance away another great town and lots of little picturesque villages. The best part for me though was being able to bicycle with my dogs through the quiet country lanes onto the moors, just mind-blowing even in the wind and rain, much to the annoyance of one of my dogs :) The site itself was quiet, flat and shaded with trees. We will DEFINITELY be returning.

Beautiful Countryside and peaceful

First visit to this lovely site and won’t be the last! Jess made us very welcome on arrival. Plenty of space for outfit. We didn’t really use the facilities apart from the waste and water, but there is the use of a toilet too. We had 3 dogs with us who loved the huge field next to us. The weather was rather inclement when we stayed so no sitting outside. But even sitting in the caravan we had lovely views. £11 per night was excellent value for money. We visited Helmsley town centre (5 min drive) and would recommend a visit to Hunters of Helmsley delicatessen. Thirsk is only a 30 min drive and has a lovely Market on a Monday. Give this place a go, you’ll not be disappointed!

Just perfect

We loved this site, the view down towards helmsley is fantastic. a great base for walking. we didn’t use the facilities apart from to empty our waste. The farmer was friendly and helpful. he did tell us that he waist his late 70’s and giving up the farm over the winter and retiring to a bungalow in helmsley. I wish them all the best in their retirement and thank you for a fab weekend
