The Jewel in Lincolnshire.

That is the only way to Rate this site at £18.00 a night High season with all that peace and quite with lovely views and very friendly owners Cheap at the price. One day we had gridlock we saw two vehicles and they looked lost. 5 out of 5 should be 10 out of 10 Returned several times and look forward to next season Roy and Ann

tranquil and peaceful

this site never fails to impress. tranquility as always, quiet and peaceful too. If you want to indulge in the history of the area, it's a fantastic base and then to come 'home' and just relax on this 5 cl site. It is testimony to the owners that the majority of their customers(friends) return time and time again. Having been before, it was just as we remembered it, only this time we were greeted like friends. There's a saying... arrive as guests and leave as friends. This site is just as it says in the reviews, tranquil and peaceful with a warm welcome, not to mention the home grown and home made produce. Thank you for a wonderful time again.

Lovely site, but is it just a CL?

Stayed for a week at this CL, situated in a beautiful area and location. I was a little confused when I first arrived as there are two fields used as caravan sites. I initially went to the first field on the right where one of the other caravan owners said they were on the CL. Went to the other field on the left of the drive and they also said it was the CL.....? Pitched up as advised by the owner over the phone. This was the field on the left of the drive, lovely big pitch with great views. There is EHU and water on this side of the site, with the Elsan in the other field (not somewhere where I would want to pitch, ended up emptying my toilet with a caravan pitched about 10ft away.) The site is ideally situated to visit local towns such as Woodhall Spa and Horncastle. Lots of lovely walks and great for cycling. Most of the time it was quiet and peaceful, but bear in mind this is a working farm surrounded by farmland, and unfortunately that means noisy tractors muck spreading chicken poo. There is one shower and two toilets, certainly not enough for 10+ caravans/motorhomes, which there was on most nights. I base my choice of CL bookings on location and price, opting for sites £15 or under unless the pitches are fully serviced, so I was disappointed to be told on the 5th day that the cost was £18 a night. The owner said that this was because it is high season. Had I known before I booked that it was this much I would have chosen somewhere else, but as it states ‘from £15’, and my pitch was not fully serviced, I had no reason to believe it would be more. Whilst there are many pluses about this site, it isn’t worth £18 a night.

Little Gem

Recently visited this charming CL which I describe as a 'Little Gem' nestling in the Lincolnshire Wolds a short distance from Woodhall Spa. The site owners are best described as charismatic characters who welcomed us on arrival and throughout the stay. David and Sarah keep the site facilities in top order and the whole site is a credit to them. Hope to visit again soon.

A really nice Site.

We have stayed here twice now, and we will be back. This is a lovely site with pleasant, friendly owners. It is everything we expect from a CL site and is a pleasure to revisit. So... until next year, then. PS. The free range eggs are not to be missed.

A beautiful place to stay

This was our first visit to Lincolnshire and we were not disappointed in either the county or our stay at Darwood House Farm. We were warmly welcomed by Dave and shown to our pitch in a wide open, flat field. Dave and Sarah were a mine of local knowledge and happy to spend time with guests. They are obviously passionate about their home and the local area. The on-site facilities were very clean and well maintained. Our stay was made memorable by us chancing on the sight of a Lancaster Bomber about to take off whilst we happened to be driving past the airfield. We stopped and spent an amazing half hour being treated to an air display from the Lancaster, two Hurricanes and two Spitfires flying, literally, just above our heads. We spent a most enjoyable week here and would certainly recommend it to others. We loved the village of Woodhall Spa. It has everything you need and more. The "local" shops offer a refreshing change from the High Street norms. We can highly recommend the local butchers and the Delicatessen. The supermarket "Budgens" is one we have not come across before but is extremely good. All in all, a great place to stay.
