Wonderful

Easy to find and easy access. Owing to torrential rain winter 2013/14 the field was waterlogged but no problem, a hardstanding was available. Every facility needed is here. The welcome is warm, the site immaculate, the location wonderful. What more could anyone ask? Oh yes, an end to the rain, but whilst this site might be heaven miracles are not one of the facilities offered!

Immaculate!

We stayed at Dunree, for 10 days, in Aug/Sept. and what a wonderful site, it can only be described as the owner’s garden and beautifully kept. We chose to park by the hedge, backing onto the road, and although it was busy during the day, when we were out, it was not a problem at night. It was so warm we had the windows and door open all night. The view, for miles over the countryside was stunning and from the front you could see the sea. Take a bird feeder, there are loads of birds and ,if you wake early enough the rabbits will entertain you. The lawn is perfect, level and with room for 15+ caravans but at most there was three of us. There is a shower room with toilet, separate toilet with wash basin and laundry area, all absolutely immaculate. Even air freshener provided, where else have you seen that? As expected Alan, the owner was always about, working to maintain the garden, he and his wife were very nice people and gave us all the local info and a little welcome pack.. We found plenty to do, visiting Tintagel, Boscastle and Port Issac as well as the many beautiful coves and bays. The quaint old village, Delabole, just 5 mins walk, has a proper locals pub, The Betel and Chisel, were we enjoyed a couple of drinks and for a bit “posher”. The Poldark was only a bit further. Mustn’t forget the scrummy Fish n Chip shop in the village. A lovely site, to which we hope to return.

Excelent base,central location.

We stayed here in September, it was raining but this did not affect us, the site is immaculate with extra facilities not often found on a CL. The site has fabulous views across the countryside and is next to a road, the choice of pitch is yours and space is abundant so noise is not an issue, we were against the roadside and it did not bother us at all. There is two toilets one with a shower both with heating ,they are spotless and cleaned regularly. A small laundry room serves as an information centre with welcome packs containing money off vouchers for the many local attractions. Padstow, Port Isaac Tintagel and Boscastle are all within a few miles. There are many pubs serving good food, three within a mile. We found the Cornish Arms a few miles away served good home cooked food. An ideal base with many facilities nearby and owners who make you feel like family friends.

Excellent CL - fabulous holiday destination

Owners very friendly and helpful. LocalPlacesOfInterest was perfect - with fantastic views of surrounding countryside - and not far from some lovely coastal areas. CL site was immaculate as were the facilities. Road noise was not a problem even though it was harvest time and alot of tractors were on the move. It was a well drained site even though it rained continuously for nearly 24 hours. Delabole village has two pubs, a spar shop,a garage and a fabulous fish and chip shop. Would definitely return for another holiday.

An enjoyable stay here.

A great site, neat & tidy with good views of the surrounding countryside. Alan was very helpful when we arrived telling us the best place to pitch because of the windy weather. The toilet block is first class for a CL, the heating was most welcome. We did not find the traffic noise to be a problem. If you are going to stay on site all day then you may not like it, so get out and explore there is so much to do in the area. We certainly would come back to this site again.....

A lovely site for a family holiday.

This is a lovely, very well maintained site. The site has enough room for 15+ caravans easily, so there is lots of space for the 5 vans. The owners have gone to some effort with flower beds, and shrubs. The owner was friendly, and left us to get on with our holiday. Just the way we like it. Despite what previous reviewers have said, we hardly noticed the road noise, even though we were pitched near to the hedge which seperates the site from the road. The views from the van were nice. It was quite windy when we were there. The toilet and shower facilities were very clean indeed. Possibly the cleanest we have experienced on a caravan site (including many club sites) . We also made use of the washing machine facility as this was considerably cheaper than the local launderette. The site is very handy for Trebarwith Strand (our favourite beach), Boscastle, Tintagel, Port Isaac, Polzeath, and there are some nice pubs nearby. We had a couple of superb meals in the White Hart in St Teath. All in all, a nice site. We may well return in a year or two.

Nice C.L.

Well maintained site, and well equipped with all facilities which were always clean (we stayed 7 nights) ideal base to tour North Cornwall, and good pub food within 20 mins walk in Delabole. The owner could not have been more helpful, in fact spent 2 hours helping us novices erect our awning for the first time! Our only criticism would be the description on the Club website saying Dunree is a "quiet site" it's location right next to a busy road with relatively high traffic speeds rather lets it down.

An unpleasant experience

Sadly, the description "quiet" in the handbook does not apply to this site. It is situated slap bang next to a derestricted section of main road used as a racetrack late into the evening by all the local youth. The nearest village is less than half a mile away and, although blessed with a couple of shops, is a very depressing place. The immediate surroundings are prone to heavy mist which also serves to hide the nearby wind turbines. On the plus side, the site is close to attractions like Tintagel, Port Isaac, Boscastle and Morwhellan Quay. The owner thinks nothing of overbooking the site. Do not be surprised to find more than 5 caravans pitched up when you arrive. You are also expected to pay for your full proposed stay upon arrival, with no refund should you decide to leave early. All in all - avoid!
