Lovely Surrounding Area

The CL site is ideally based just off the A1. However, the approach is not quite what we expected as located behind the Industrial Estate. The site is fairly compact and there is insufficient space to park the car next to the caravan but there is an area allocated for cars. We had the pitch next to the entrance/exit gate which attracted the sun all day. The electricity supply is only 6 amps and we experienced limitations. Unfortunately, the surface is uneven and appeared to be deep filled with something similar to road hoggin. This caused alot of pressure on the car's clutch. The water, chemical point and refuse bin was clearly identified and easily accessible. The owner approached us on our arrival when unhitching the caravan in the rain. He also spoke to us on a couple of occasions during our four night stay to check everything was ok. The site is within walking distance of Alnwick. There is a petrol station and Co-op just off the A1 at the roundabout and also a Sainsburys so not to far too walk for any last minute supplies. There is a pub called The Hogs Head Inn within close promixity which can be seen from the A1. It is open for breakfast if you fancy a treat and there is a good menu choice for evening meals, particularly for those who are on a gluten and wheat free diet. Perhaps alittle on the expensive side but certainly nice to have the option of a drink and evening meal within walking distance. The question is, would we return? Well, it is perfectly based to explore the beautiful surrounding area by car and there are a couple of walks along the disused railway track to Lesbury/Alnmouth. We haven't yet visited the CL site nearby so perhaps we will try that next time to compare.
