Lovely Flat Site on the Outskirts of Alnwick

We stayed here in our campervan in August for 2 nights. We really enjoyed staying here as quiet, friendly and pitches well; spaced out with good amenities. We walked to the town centre (about 25 mins) to see the sights including Alnwick garden, book shop (wow), various pubs and restaurants, Would recommend this site.

Quiet site

Nice quiet site with friendly owners. As description, hard standing and grass, drinking water, Eleanor and bin only. Thirty five minute walk via industrial estate to town and castle , £10 taxi back. At present £22 / night with 240v ok for what it is.

Nice quiet site with level hardstanding pitches

We stayed here in April 2023. It is very peaceful with nice level pitches and as others have said it is extremely convenient for visiting Alnwick and Alnmouth. Alnwick is a walkable distance and the cycle path to Alnwick runs past the site (though its a hilly cycle!). It borders a light industrial estate but its fairly well shielded and most of the pitches look over farmland.

Return Visit

We returned to this CL in June for 4 nights. Its about 1-1/2 miles away from the main attractions of Alnwick. We walked in on one day and visited the Book Shop, the. excellent gardens and the old town market square. For enthusiasts, a short walk away, is the vintage Aln Valley Railway. Parallel to most of the line, is a cycleway which can be used for a trip into Alnmouth. . Now that the Northumberland Council have provided motorhome parking at Amble, Beadnell and Bamburgh it’s an excellent CL as a base for motorhome owners to tour the immediate area. We visited all three and used Bamburgh as our next overnight stop. The Hogs Head Inn is within easy walking distance as are several retail outlets. The Hogs Head does a good value carvery and if you don't want to walk to it, there is provision to park motorhomes there which we did for Sunday lunch onleaving th e CL for our next overnight stop. A public footpat at the entrance to the site provides good dog walking opportunities

Lovely CL place to stay.

Mr and Mrs weddell were very sociable and friendly. We stayed for 2 weeks and could have stayed longer. The area is lovely. The site was nice and clean . Plenty of places to walk the dog. The industrial site near us didn't bother us at all, we didn't hear hardly anything from it , or the main road nearby. We would stay there again and would recommend it to anyone 😉

Excellent night stop

We used this very convenient CL for two night stops on our outward and homeward journey and on both occasions received a cheery welcome. Access, although narrow, is good for larger outfits and we had no trouble finding this CL which is just off the A1 Access to the services on this CL for motorhomes is also easy because you can pull alongside these to fill with fresh water and minimise the distance to carry and empty waste. I agree what others say about this CL and location and we hope to fit in a longer stay when touring next year. We did have a meal in the Hogs Head, parking the moltorhome in one of the four large bays in their car park. We chose the carvery (help yourself) and although the subsequent pudding service was slow we have no complaints about the quality of our choice of food.

What we think a CL should be!

Excellent CL, very close to A1 which is ideal and you would have to listen closely to hear the road! Hard standing with convenient disposal and fresh water. £18 is good value Owner gave lots of local information. We experienced a lovely bike ride along the cycle route to Alnmouth and a 20min walk into Alnwick centre. Regular supermarkets close by . Avoid Hogshead pub, poor food and very slow service. Would I return YES

A good CL

We have just enjoyed a 4 night stay at this friendly and well kept CL. The site is smaller than some but not overcrowded with each unit having a hard standing, a decent sized grassy patch and dedicated parking space. Facilities are immaculately clean and easily accessed though we wished there was more recycling. The site is very close to A1, Alnwick town centre and the coast and has a walks directly from site too, we felt proximity to attractions is reflected in price. Overall, a good CL and we would recommend it as a good base.

Well located for Alnwick.

The pitches are hard standing with grass surronding and electric hook up. The site is part of a farm and views are limited but not overlooked. The site is within reasonable walking distance of Alnwick (20-30 minutes) and adjacent to footpaths beside the Aln Valley Railway. There are footpaths to Alnmouth. There are convenient retailers across the A1 - M&S Food, Sainsburys and Turnbulls. Turnbulls is a local retailer who have an excellent butcher, fantastic range of local beers and home made ready meals.
