Stunning Views

We stayed here for three nights but would have been longer if we had a shower in our van (first season second hand van). All pitches have a great view over Loch Lomond the local area is great for exploring and the site is so peaceful. Another one to add the favourites list.

lovely views

Really beautiful location overlooking loch Lommond. Peaceful, friendly and practically free from midges! Access road is a bumpy track to the site but it is well worth it. Entrance is easy to miss but there is a place to turn around in Balmaha in the hotel car park. I will definitely visit again.

Stunning views from a busy working farm

We didn't see this site at its best during our 2 night stay as the rain fell for hours! However, in sunshine or rain the view of the Loch is stunning. Drive along the road to Balmaha with it's visitor centre, local walks, shop and pub and then on towards Rowardennan - every bend and dip in the road is worth an oooh! Gartfairn Farm is a busy working farm with sheep and cattle, the owner was friendly and the facilities basic but ample.

dont expect a welcome

We arrived early afternoon we had to ask a fellow caravaner if we were in the right place as we drove through a field with about ten caravans in it and then into another field with one caravan . We unhooked the van and off i went to pay only to be met with yes and thank you. Not even enjoy your stay or did you find the water etc. So no welcome but the site is clean. the grass ok and the site just big enoug with 3 of us parked in the site and the other 2 over the fence. We didnt find much to do in the area but we did climb. Conic hill . It's a windy spot , lots of space in the adjoining field for dogs and kids to run and play.

Great little site.

We spent a weekend at this CL with our three children. There are no set out pitches, but there is plenty of space for 5 caravans. There was a rally on over in the other field when we were there, but this did not affect us in any way, yes they use the chemical disposal, but there was never a queue or any noise or issues. Personally, I liked the view over the farm, the description clearly tells you its a working farm, however, there was very little noise from it. Waking up to the cows mooing added to the experience. The kids loved being able to use the field next to the site to play in and fly kites. At £10 a night, I would find it hard to criticise this site. Its in a great location with good views and we will definitely use again.

Check First

Nice CL with good views in most directions, but looking over the farm is not so good. One of those CL' s where it is best to check first if they will be having a rally set up in the ajoining field, using the CL facilities while you plan to be there.

Comment from Community Champion:

Many thanks for taking the time to leave a review, just to let you know the site has contacted us to advise that the rally was a small rally, held only once a year. They would hope the rally wouldn't detract from the peace and tranquillity, or the fantastic views over the loch that the site provides. Thank you again.

Great CL

Lovely spot- a few minutes by bike or 15 mins walk to Balmaha and the pub! Lovely spot overlooking the south of Loch Lomond and the isles that dot this part of the loch. Electricity plus water and a flush point for your chemical loo - ideal. At £10 a night, this is a great option. Eggs for sale at the farmhouse- ideal! We cycled on to Rowardennan for another beer before heading back for a meal in the Oak Tree pub. Cows heading in to get milked woke us early but it added to the feel of the place- otherwise- no noise pollution whatsoever.
