Lovely farm site

Had wonderful week here. All grass summer pitches face towards the beautiful views and the sunshine. Lots of grass for children to play on. Ideal for joint family get-togethers. Hardstandings good for winter (still with the views). Very friendly family. Clean shower room and two toilets (one an access toilet). Trains to watch from site for children. Family-run beauty therapy and hairdresser on site. Short walk into historic village of Wreay, with village trail to amazing church, mausoleum and small heritage centre. On the way back explored pretty little memorial wood near the railway bridge. Visited Hadrian's Wall twice, Lanercost Priory, also Carlisle and the coast.

Marvellous site

We stayed here on a stopover from Scotland in early May. We were most impressed by it. The site was well-cared for and owner very friendly. Beautiful farm site. Weather was so good we popped over to the lakes via the back roads and in just 40 minutes we were looking at bassentwaite having come across unknown areas and views of the northern lakes which were delightful.

Top rated CL

We have used this CL many times, mainly as a stop over on our trips from Perth to various parts of England and return. As always we arrived today to a very warm welcome from Margaret to find the site beautifully kept with the grass neatly cut. There have been numerous improvements including the removal of a fence post that used to be tricky to get past and a vastly improved hard standing area. The facilities were up to their usual high standard. Must ensure we have a longer stop next time we are here.

Long weekend stay

Well what can I say about this site. This has to be the best site we have ever been on. The site is beautiful and well kept and well maintained and so peaceful. The owners Margaret and her mum and dad Tom and Pam are lovely people and made us feel so welcome and nothing was too much trouble for them and were always there if you needed anything. We used the hot tub facility that they have on site and it was amazing. Margaret had lit lots of candles in the room for us and hung up bathrobes for us all and supplied us with a jug of cold water and some glasses. The attention to detail and those little touches were amazing. Didn't want to leave could have stayed there forever. Loved our little chats with you all. Thank you all for a wonderful stay we loved every second of it and you are lovely welcoming people. See you again 100%. Susan & David and Adam Johnson x

Good stop over ......

...... and possibly longer should you so wish. Our Lad loved seeing all the trains go past though it was a tad noisy during the night. Really well kept site though my only gripe is the amount of cats roaming around (5 to my knowledge) as I'm not a cat lover by any stretch! Just a short walk up to a very interesting church (only one designed by a woman in uk). Would highly recommend.

Here we go again...

I am just about to book another visit to this, one of my favourite sites for staying over whenever I head North. The owners could not be more welcoming, the facilities are clean and well kept, and the location splendid - quiet roads for walking, birds singing all round, and a merry little river at the foot of the site just to add to the beauty. The biggest vote of confidence however comes from my dog. A short walk up the road by the railway bridge is the sweetest little permissive wood, full of interesting smells and leafy tracks. He says it's just the job for a four legged friend who has been cooped up in the van for a long journey.

Our favourite stop-over

We have stopped here quite a few times on our way north, it's a nice little site close to the M6. You can walk into the village, to the pub and down the lanes and (apart from the adjacent railway line) it's fairly peaceful. During the wet months we were able to stay on hardstanding as we're quite heavy, We also like the warm shower room, especially nice in the colder months and the farm setting - there were some very cute lambs last time we stayed!

Lovely night halt on returning home from Islay

The Islay Ferry did not dock till 12-00,so with 350 miles to cover we opted for a stop rather than arrive home after dark. We only phoned ahead less than 1 hour but a pitch was available. The access from M6 is good and the C.L. is amongst the best we have used. Super facilities, short grass, peaceful spot but Oh those noisy lambs!!!!!!!!!. As good a night halt for Scotland as you could wish for. Well done Margaret,a little gem of the network.

One night stop off

A one-night stop off on our way home. I can only echo the other comments. Loavely CL. Great welcome. Not mentioned is that there is a railway immediately behind the farm: this is the West Coast mainline so it's fairly busy. However, it didn't bother us at all but we understand others find it intrusive.
