Just perfect

We stayed here for 2 nights Whitsun week 2018 on a tour of mid Wales and I wish we could have stayed longer. The site is very pretty with farm animals around. As there is only room for 5 motorhomes / tourers it was so quiet which was just what we needed after visiting some very busy, noisy sites that week. We had the best of welcomes from the owners, we had no problem driving our 8metre motorhome onto the site and the walks from the site down through the waterfalls to the coves are definitely worth a visit. We will definitely return.

Fantastic holiday here

Just had a fantastic week at this lovely site. Fay and Roger were most welcoming and helpful, giving us maps and information for walking in the area. We met some lovely people during our stay and saw red kites and buzzards flying around. We saw some beautiful sunsets too. We had no trouble finding this great site and had a lovely relaxing week.

The Good Life A Little gem

This is a well maintained small site in an attractive and interesting area, with welcoming and very helpful owners. Situated on a well maintained field and with views over to the sea about 1/4 mile away on one side, it is a lovely place to be. Electric hook up, fresh water, chemical and waste water disposal points are easy to use and clearly marked. From the first contact I had with Fay on the phone she was very helpful and even texted me the details with post code and directions. On arrival I was greeted by Fay and her husband Roger who was just equally as helpful. I had originally only booked for one night 21/6/2018 as I was touring west Wales but found the tranquility of the place so addictive I ended up staying for 7 days. Whilst there I met 4 other members who also found the site the same. They went the extra mile to make life easy for us suggesting the beaches walks and even giving us a lift to the local shops on a few occasions. I had no problems entering of exiting the site neither did I see any one else. In 22 years of using CL site for me this is the best I have experienced and will definitely be returning.

Would never return

We visited the “good Life CL” although it wasn’t for us in June 2018. To start with the instructions are misleading where it says “In about 1 mile turn into a small lane” do not be mistaken, this turn is a very narrow rutted farm track, so narrow that both sides of the caravan drag along the hedges either side of the track, there is no way of avoiding this potential damage. “Note if you miss the track as we did looking for a lane it is very difficult to turn round” We were greeted by Mr Pead on arrival who advised us to select our own spot to pitch he advised us he would call later to check with us, he did not. The following morning before 9.00am he was banging on the caravan door “all our blinds were closed as we were showering” demanding the rest of his money. We had paid a 50% deposit so felt he was being unreasonable as we were in credit for a further 2 days, he left and said he would call back later. We were out all day and did not get back until about 6.00pm, Mr Pead reappeared demanding for his money, in a very aggressive way I got my cheque book out and started to write a cheque he said he wanted cash, I told him I did not have sufficient cash on me, he then replied “well go and get some then, I told him I would the following day, but he demanded that I go that night, had already had a drink and refused to drive. After a heated discussion he said he wanted it first thing in the morning and left. My wife and myself felt so intimidated by his aggressive manner we found another site not very far away where the owners were most pleasant and helpful, We left the following morning losing £8.00 of our deposit and again dragging the caravan up both sides of the hedge.

Reply from the Club:

Thank you for your review. Fay, the CL Owner, has been in touch as she and her husband work really hard to ensure everyone has a wonderful time on their site. Firstly, we are sorry you found it difficult to find the site. Directions are written on their website, on the Club website and in the email confirming the booking. The site is sign posted, with a wooden 'Good Life' sign, and 2 Caravan and Motorhome club signs at the entrance to their lane. The CL Site had that week cut back the branches on their hedge, which they maintain regularly,  to ensure there are no damaging branches in the lane however they do carefully leave the wild flowers as they are encouraging nesting birds and wildlife for guests to enjoy the local nature and wildlife. Their terms of payment are clearly communicated when booking with an email that is sent out to guests explaining that they require full payment in cash on arrival. As they are a working farm, their time is spent on the farm and the nearest bank is a 45 minute drive away which is why they request cash rather than payment by cheque. The CL owner did offer to help you find another CL site to stay on when you advised you were leaving as they wanted to help, even though their departure meant that they were out of pocket for the balance that was due. We are sorry to learn you did not enjoy your stay and would like to assure you that the CL Owners do go out of their way to make everyone feel welcome as you can see from the many 5 star reviews they have received.

peace and quiet

Visited this great little site early June 2018. Peace and quiet is what we wanted and that is exactly what we got. Situated on a flat well maintained field bounded by hedgerow and with views over one to the sea about 1/4 mile away it is a lovely place to be. Hook up and fresh water available and chemical and waste water disposal points. Plenty of room for the 5 outfits allowed. Access to the lane a little tight but no problem. Walks along the coastal clifftop paths, left into Llangranog and right into New Quay superb. We even saw the Dolphins. Roger and Fay are a great helpful and engaging couple who will go out of their way if you need assistance. Thankyou for the departing gift of leeks from your vegetable plot and the bottle of homemade beer. It went down well ! Would definitely return Tony and Sue

Well situated CL

This is a well maintained small site in an attractive and interesting area, with a welcoming and helpful owner. Facilities - Easy to use water & waste disposal. Picnic bench beside the dustbins, but not always within reach of the wifi signal. The site is mostly flat. Wi Fi - the signal is weak and intermittent. It can disappear for many hours at a time. You have to stand in the corner of the site next to the dustbins. Handy to have for occasional simple tasks, but not reliable, and you can get very wet when it rains, or find it hard to see the screen if the sun shines! Virgin mobile signal is also weak and fluctuates. Views - on one side is the entrance from the farm track, with dustbins and farm equipment. Opposite is a hedge with partial views across fields pointing towards the coast, which is about half a mile away. A hedge and trees separate the site from the farm house and opposite to that is a wire fence separating the site from a field, with houses beyond. It is a rural setting, but I'm not sure I would say there are great views and you would need rear view windows or a caravan mover to be able to see the rural views from the van on most pitches. Pitch 1 has good views of the dustbins, water taps, hedge and an oak tree, which is popular with birds, including a greater spotted woodpecker and nuthatch. 18 species of birds were seen in early May. 0.5 acres - Only two thirds of this area contains the pitches, making it feel a bit crowded if the site is full of large rigs or vans are parked side ways. There is a telegraph pole in the middle of the unused third and this area also seems to be used as an overflow car park for the farm. The electricity supply is good. Dogs - 2 vans had dogs, with one being allowed to roam and defecate freely. It chose the area around our van! Another dog, possibly belonging to the farm, also roamed freely. Watch where you put your feet! Path to beach - access to the path is through a gate in the corner of the site. It begins by following a path also taken by young cows, so it was rutted and muddy. It then passes through a muddy farmyard, across fields with good rural views and plenty of spring flowers, and down a steep path through an oak wood (with plants growing on the path in places, even though it was early in the season). It then reaches the lane / road, which runs alongside a small attractive river towards Cwm Tydu, where there is a cafe, pleasant beach and great rock formations. It was an attractive but strenuous walk back up the hill. Allow plenty of time. Access - the entrances off the lane onto the narrow farm track and then a few minutes later off the track into the site are wide, but the narrow track and lane makes a 90 deg turn challenging for large rigs. We watched one driver uncouple and complete the manoeuvre using their caravan mover. Our Sterling 530 coped, due to an experienced driver.

Holiday 2017

This is very good CL with views of the sea from the pitch. The surrounding area is good with plenty of walks. The owners are friendly and welcoming the only down side for me was the entrance to the lane which is very tight. The wing mirrors where catching the hedge all the way down the lane. The access both to get onto the lane and off is very tight for even average size outfits. Once down the lane the access to the field was fine.

One of the Best

The GOOD LIFE starts here. We were the first caravan to use the CL this year. What a find. We have been using CL’s for the last 30 years and this certainly is one we will return too. Fay and Roger are always on hand to give local tourist information about the area and fantastic walks. Beware they are a bit steep from the coast back to the site but plenty of stops give you chance to survey the surrounding views. Having a wide caravan great care is needed on arrival to the drive and into the site, Roger is going to make this more accessible. Great news is that Internet is now accessible on parts of the site. Great fish and chip shop in New Quay and Organic supplies are readily available form Fay. We will be back.

Bliss

Just returned from a lovely relaxing break at this new CL. We had the whole field to ourselves but there is plenty of room for 5. Roy and Fay were very welcoming and told us of walks directly from the site down to the beach and to the forest. No noise or light pollution here which was pure bliss. Ps. the raspberries were absolutely lovely!
