Why stay here ...

Cwmtydu Caravan Site is positioned in a beautiful and tranquil part of West Wales, nestled between Nanternis and the lovely beach of Cwmtydu. Just 3 miles from the holiday town of New Quay and a stones throw from the coast of Cardigan Bay.

Our site is tucked away on a peaceful 8 acre coastal smallholding located near National Trust land with footpaths running from the site to secret smugglers beaches, sandy coves, wild rocky inlets, grassy headlands with an abundance of wildflowers and stunning landscapes.

If you want sea views, untamed nature and open countryside all within walking distance from your grassed, flat pitch then come and stay with us at Cwmtydu Caravan Site. With only 5 pitches you are assured a warm welcome and a peaceful holiday next to some of the most beautiful sights in West Wales. Your stay will refresh and invigorate allowing you to wind down, chill out and have a real break - this will be a holiday to remember. And like many of our visitors you’ll be back year after year!

Within a mile of our site is the famous Ceredigion Coastal Path. Here you can discover award winning beaches, ancient woodlands, great places to go bird watching and even dolphin and seal watching. You could go for a bracing swim or get the kayak out and paddle through rocky inlets and towering cliffs. All this just a walk or short drive from your pitch!

If you want to travel just a little further afield - there is more to discover. Travel south to the next coastal village of Llangrannog with 2 pubs, the Pentre Arms and The Ship. Go north 3 miles to New Quay where you can have what we believe are the best fish and chips in the country!! Or perhaps a Sunday roast and a drink or two! Go dolphin spotting on a fantastic cruise round the bay or just eat an ice cream on the harbour wall.

A 50 minute drive north takes you to the university town of Aberystwyth with plenty to do if you crave people, shops and action. Cardigan is just a half hour drive south where there are supermarkets and a variety of shops. Just a further few minutes past Cardigan and you are in picturesque Pembrokeshire and all that has to offer.

Excellent!

Just back from 9 nights at this amazing cl. I booked last minute and am so pleased that I went there. The field is flat with a tap, elsan, rubbish and recycling bins. Each pitch has electric, plenty of room and a view of the sea. Phone signal on vodafone was not brilliant but did work and there is wifi. Roger could not have been more friendly or helpful but was not at all intrusive. Lots of lovely walks and places to visit nearby. A little gem of a site at a very reasonable price when so many cls now have prices that compete with the big sites. I had a lovely week so thank you Roger, I will definitely be back!

Caravan 14 night summer holiday - a mixed bag

Cwmtydu Caravan Site (formerly Goodlife@Blaenllan)
First impression of the site “surely there cannot be a caravan site at the bottom of this lane” but after a quick walk there it was. The lane is narrow with high banked soil, trees and bushes each site. A slow and steady approach got us through. The CL field is a reasonable size but 3 of the pitches are squashed along the sea view. Whilst it looks spacious in the advertising its cramped with 3 motorhomes and if 3 caravans with awings arrived, they simply would not fit. Half way through our stay we witnessed a debate between a camper sited on a sea view pitch and the proprietor Roger when Roger abruptly asked him to move his stuff to make room for a new arrival. 2 motorhomes were setup when we arrived so we opted for pitch 5 along the side for extra space. The rubbish arrangements are “rubbish”. We were provided with a recycle bag and a general waste bag, told to use these bags only and once full to put them in the main bins provided. This leaves everyone with bags hanging from their campers. We kept ours in the awning. Unfortunately, 5 times our bin was ransacked by, what turned out to be, one of the proprietors’ dogs. The site is advertised as no dogs but the proprietor has 5 and 2 of these roams the CL field freely, looking for treats in the bin bags and leaving their mess wherever they please. The dogs are yappy and not used to children putting us on our guard whenever the dogs were roaming. An unpleasant situation occurred between myself and Roger regarding the toilet cleaning facilities. I was asked to empty any rinse water from the toilet cassette in to the grey water to save him 20p a litre, the cost of emptying his Elson tank. I refused stating this was polluting but Roger was quite forceful, told me to “do as I was told” and physically blocked the Elson emptying point. It is illegal to empty toilet waste in to the grey water and those caught doing it can be prosecuted to I would advise anyone asked to do similar to refuse in the first instance. Any subsequent emptying of toilet was done the normal way in to the Elson whilst keeping an eye out for Roger, not what we expected for a relaxing holiday! The closest beach is a 20 minute walk down the lane but a fairly steep walk back. It’s a pebble beach used more for launching kayaks and the occasional evening BBQ. The second nearest beach, further along the coastal path is similar and the third is no longer accessible. Following our OS map we walked inland only twice, once to New Quay. The walks are not well used or maintained so we battled through brambles and over-growth. The more popular, family friendly and sandy beaches are about 25-30min drive further south which is what we did most days. For us, Cwmtydu caravan site did not live up to its marketing and we didn’t share the welcoming and relaxing experience. Cardigan Bay is of course a wonderful place to visit and we would recommend that people look a little further south. We will not be visiting this site again.

What a great site . No what a fantastic site. We spent 4 nights in our Motorhome during the recent heatwave. Sea views, cool breeze and above all a peaceful atmosphere. Roger is well organised but not officious, helpful but not in your face . He grows a lot of produce on his small holding but refused to accept payment for it. I have already booked again for September. The walk to the unbelievable secluded beach is a little challenging but well worth the visit. New Quay is close and worth a visit it’s what Cornwall was 20 years ago, Charming . I am always reluctant to give a good review in case everyone books and I can’t get a booking but this is such a good site I am compelled to compliment it. And NO I am not being payed for this review.

Firstly, this is a brilliant site and Roger seems like a top guy. Yes the lane is narrow, but no harm done. Stock up with provisions if that’s your thing. The coastal walking is SUPERB but is up and down cliff stuff so be prepared for a bit of effort. New Quay round trip walk very doable. Didn’t get to walk south but suspect that just as good. Adders, dolphins, foxes etc…if you like wildlife. There is an alternative way to the coast path by taking the lane to the church and then go left through a field and then right to follow a track to a cottage where there’s a gate through to the coast path. Alternatively the road is no bother (10 mins down, 20 back up!!) Kayaking from Cwm Tydu beach looks good. Swimming also, but suspect high tide is easier as a bit bouldery at low tide. Anyway, loved this place (admittedly it was 22degC and full sun, but would be happy here in any weather).

A great little find!!

With just 5 pitches this quiet site is ideal for anyone looking for peace and privacy. The couple who own it are lovely. They’re very welcoming and relaxed. There are coastal walks straight from the site, and access to small quiet coves. The views out to sea are a real bonus. We wouldn’t hesitate in recommending it and would love to return at some point.
