Views to die for

Excellent Site, ticks most of the boxes. Easy strait forward access. Pitches hard standing plenty of room and magnificent far reaching views. Bear in mind it’s a working farm. We enjoyed(in March) watching the newborn lamb gangs playing in the field. Easy walk to Gosforth (boots required), selections of pubs, cafe and restaurant, and a shop. Short drive to the fells and the Ratty (Ravenglass and Eskdale famous railway). Excellent waste disposal, toilet disposal. Serviced pitches to boot. Only down side, pitches a little sloping and the wind! (Not your fault Michael), given nothing between us and the Isle of Man. Small price for the long distance views. Definitely returning.

An excellent site with an amazing view

We adored this site. The photos don't do it justice, high hedges and farm tracks suddenly open up to the most amazing elevated view of the west cumbrian coast. The site was immaculate and tidy, the huge pitches well drained and grass trimmed. Each pitch has its own tap. Mike met us and made sure we knew about the neighbourhood, a really friendly welcome, matched only by the adorable collie Nell and two tiny kittens around the farm. There is a non-exclusive toilet and sink available which is a bit old and tired but to be fair it is a farm and we don't expect toilets and showers on a CL site. Gosforth is a pretty village with an enormous amount of pubs and great beer (particularly at the Gosforth Hall) as well as a fabulous italian restaurant (Wild Olive) which needs to be booked well in advance. Its a fairly long walk in to Gosforth by road but a shorter walk across fields (although the fields had long wet grass when we visited last week). Hope you enjoy it as much as we did, the view, the peace...we will definitely be back.

Want to keep this secret

Just spent a few days at this lovely site. As previous reviews have said the views are spectacular but it is also a great site with hard standing, fully serviced pitches. They looked a bit sloping but somehow we managed to get the caravan level without having to move it. Michael, the owner, came round shortly after we arrived to introduce himself. Lovely guy and always there if you need him. The area is amazing with the charming little village of Gosforth about a mile away and lovely coastline at Seascale and Ravenglass. Inland we had some amazing scenic drives and found wonderful friendly little pubs that served a good selection of ales and some very tasty food. A visit to Wastwater is a must as is a stop at The Sawmill cafe and farm shop. Taking a little used road over to Broughton in Furness we discovered the lovely little Cake Shed. Delicious cakes and coffee, even have packaged homemade cakes to takeaway too. Didn’t really want to tell everyone about this as we mightn’t be able to get booked next time we want to visit as I’m certain we will want to return.

Perfect CL

All you could want from a CL. Levelish hard standing pitches fully serviced. Wonderful views down to Seascale and the Irish Sea beyond. On a clear day you could see the IoM. Well placed to visit the beautiful coast (St Bees Head) and the western Lake District(Cockermouth). Owners welcoming and helpful. OS ref is a bit short of the Farm entrance. Highly recommended.

One of the best CLs, just beautiful

We booked for 3 nights and even after 8 nights didn’t want to leave. As we entered the site (easy access) the view took our breath away. Views across the coastline and to Isle of Man with Scafell Pike and fells to left and behind us. The pitches are hard standing with grassy area and only had to raise the front up a little. Water, grey waste and EHU per pitch. We were doing the Cumbria Coast 200 and this was an amazing relaxing base for us to explore the area on foot and by train. Pub and village within walking distance. We’d intended driving up the coast in our motorhome but ended up using the site as a base as just so quiet and peaceful to come back to. Motorhome parking at Ravenglass main train station as grass verge for overhang. We parked here for day (£5.50) to go on Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway and then another day we went on the train up to Maryport and then stopped off at places on the way back. Beach at Seascale is fabulous. Glad we didn’t drive into Seascale as very very narrow bridge. So for us this site was perfect and why we stayed longer than planned. Michael the owner very friendly but not intrusive and the site was kept immaculate. We enjoyed watching the cows and calves and visits from a hare. Can’t recommend this highly enough if you’re looking for a tranquil site with amazing views.

Fabulous!

It's no surprise that all the reviews have been so good - hard to imagine how anyone could find fault with this wonderful CL. Easy access from the A595, good sized, fully serviced pitches, great views (weather permitting!) all combine to make this one of the best CLs we've stayed on and one that we'll definitely return to. The owner, Michael, was very responsive when I emailed re. availability and on a couple of follow up queries and it was nice to meet him when he came up to say hello - not something we always expect from working farmers who understandably are often more focused on their day job... Worth mentioning the beach at Seascale which has a free car park and, at low tide at least, a wonderful stretch of beach to explore... Fabulous CL - many thanks Michael!

Gem of a site

we’ve just had a week on this fabulous site, firstly access is along a short stretch of single-track road but you have a great view of any other vehicles coming in the opposite direction as the road is straight and there are plenty of passing places. Site access is along a well-maintained track with ample room for the largest of caravans to access easily. Pitches are relatively level but may require blocks , however we didn’t. great facilities, including fully serviced hardstanding pitch, no Water to collect and no grey waste to empty was absolute bliss, there’s also a toilet available to use adjacent to the farmhouse. The view from every pitch is great, looking out to the western outlying fells of the lake district and the Irish sea. There are lots of great walks from site and locally, our dog loved the variety of beach, woodland, and rocky mountain walking. The owner Mike is very helpful he even came to the rescue of one member whos car wouldn’t start. If all the above wasn’t enough we were there over the new year period and on new years eve Mike kindly delivered a bottle of prosecco to our caravan. We are already looking at booking again
