This is our second trip here. The site is at the end of a straight single track which you can see all the way up once you have passed through the village of Pockley. The walks and cycling from the site are really good. We stayed 9 nights, it was rather cold and wet for the later part of our stay. However being on hard standing was very helpful. The site owner had informed us of her wet weather contingency plan to enable all booking to be accomodated. Each pitch has metered electricity allowing 10 units per night in the cost of the pitch. Our caravan is 2011 and each electrical item runs individually so can easily be turned on/off as required. We also take an oil filled radiator with us early/late season so we can allow for background heat. We averaged at 7 units per 24 hour period, so within the allowance. Other newer vans on the site that had alde heating systems used more, understanding that they would be paying the extra. From chatting it seemed to work out between £3 and £5 per 24 hour period. We felt the pitch allowance of 10 units was very fair, rather than increasing the pitch price to accomodate increased electricity use. It is clear that the increased cost of electricity, standing charges and added VAT makes a significant difference to the offerings at sites and cls, as it does to our home use. Being metered helps raise awareness of use and a conscious effort to minimise. The site is really peaceful as it has no passing traffic. Lots of wild birds around and lovely views and sunsets. Surrounding areas and towns and villages are lovely to visit. Great cheese shop in Helmsley and a really great butchers. The site owners are very helpful and friendly. We will be back again.
