Quiet remote site

Quiet site, 2 hardstanding pitches & easy access for good walking on to the moor & for this the CL was great. The CL has good views but is exposed to winds from the south & west. We would have preferred a no EHU rate as we are low users of electric as have solar and gas. The shower is available in summer months only & at extra cost (£1 a go) & toilet is closed during frost months. The toilet/shower wet room is very clean & modern but all one room. Pitches are slightly sloping . Remote location, you need to like walking a lot or have a car. We never saw the owners & there is no info board/hut. Wifi on site - but its a fairly weak strength- phone signal is poor. EHU more than 10kwh/day 32p/unit extra. Hardstanding pitch 4 is a bit of a muddy layby by the entrance and next to the water tap, HS pitch 6 is better. Overall we didn't consider @ £24 the CL good value for money for facilities on offer in Oct.

What a great site

What a lovely quiet location. We only stayed a couple of nights but will definitely be back for a longer stay. There are plenty of walking and cycling routes straight from the site (which bus beautifully maintained). The shower/toilet is modern and clean - a nice facility to have. Overall an excellent CL

Fabulous site

We had such a lovely stay here, facilities were clean , wet room style shower area, the site was very private and peaceful. The walks directly from the site are amazing, dogs were off the lead almost immediately. We took the ridge walk several times in both directions! The owners are lovely and even delivered our Amazon parcel (levellers for the van) straight to our VW. Kirby moor side and Hemsley both great for local produce and good co-ops. We will definitely return!

Perfection

Just beautiful, peace and quiet, walks direct from site, no noise except farm noises so sheep and tractors, no road noise, views across countryside .Good clean toilet/shower should you need them. We really enjoyed our stay and feel this is definitely one to return to ,the one thing that would make it even better would be a gravel 'road' to access your hard standing pitch as you still need to drive across grass to get to it which can be a worry with a heavier MH , but this would not stop us enjoying this lovely place again !

Peacefull site with great walking/cycling

Our first visit with medium size camper van. Great site, peacefull, friendly owners, walking and cycling straight from the site. We are walkers so generally took the van out every day and did walks using the MOORBUS. Excellent walks and great value. The heather moors were magnificent. We certainly will be back.

A slice of heaven at the end of the road

A fantastic site literally at the end of the road.. Long distance views, beautiful sunsets and peace & quiet are only a few reasons for coming here. The shower really is the best I've experienced of any of the many sites we visit and always clean and tidy. We have just returned from our second year here, two weeks enjoying the lovely walks directly from the caravan door, we and the dogs really appreciate not having to endure a car journey to get out on the moors. So many places worth a visit close by, Rydale folk museum and Helmsley castle to name a couple, the site is also within an hour of Scarborough or Whitby. This is a working farm so there is movement of farm vehicles but it is unobtrusive, we actually felt guilty watching the farmers working away. Stayed 14 nights and didn't use anywhere near our included electricity even though the first week was more like October than August. Love it so much we are already planning for 2024.

Beadlam Rigg

If you're looking for peace, relaxation, wonderful views and friendly owners then this site is perfect. Shower and toilet facility is very modern and well maintained. Wonderful walking opportunities right on the doorstep and lots of pretty towns and villages to explore. Ryedale has a reputation for good food and its pubs and restaurants did not disappoint. Definitely a site to keep coming back to!

Quiet with great views

We had a four night stay to end our summer holiday. Site is at the end of a single track road so no passing traffic and very clear skies at night. The shower/toilet room was a real surprise - very clean and modern. Great views and handy for Helmsley, Pickering and we even had a day trip to Scarborough. This would be a great site for walking in the North York Moors although we didn't do that on this occasion. Electricity is metered but we got 10 units per night included in pitch fees and only used 20 units over the four nights.

Another great stay at High Farm

We have just returned from our second visit to High Farm. It's a great site at the end of a very quiet lane that leads out onto the moors. It is very peaceful with spectacular views of Ryedale and the surrounding countryside. Arrival is very straightforward, and the owners are lovely to talk to and are around if any problems arise (not that we had any problems during our stay). There is a shower and toilet etc. available to use, but we prefer to use our own onboard facilities. Electricity is metered, although we didn't use anything like our allowance in such glorious July weather. The site is great for exploring a number of places in the area, including the coast, the North York Moors railway, countless castles and abbeys and the nearby market town of Helmsley is charming. There are many great walks directly from the site, and I'm tempted to bring my bike up next time because the opportunities for cycling are good too! If you enjoy really quiet, relaxed caravan sites then this is the site for you, and we recommend it without hesitation. We will be back in 2024.
