Lovely site perfectly located

We first stayed here in 2022 and loved it so much we booked a return visit for 2023 (which is very unusual for us). The pitches are well spaced and separated by a small fence. Fully serviced pitches making the stay even more pleasant. Larrain is a lovely host, and very welcoming. There is a horse paddock next door with 2 beautiful horses running up and down, and a professional stable within walking distance which has cafe. 2 pubs nearby serving good food, and Totnes has all the shopping facilities. Well places for coastal trips, would highly recommend for a visit to the English Riviera

Didn't stay but have to say...

We were booked to stay here from Jan 8th until 18th, 10 nights but the weather had been awful so arrived on the 12th. Unfortunately the torrential rain meant the pitch {grass} was too wet for us to stay as we have a big van and feared we may not be able to get off. Laraine was so kind to us and tried to help despite being poorly herself. We found a nearby site with hardstanding but in our haste to leave dropped our motor mover key in the paddock. Laraine very kindly located the key and sent it on for us...and wouldn't take a penny for postage. So although we didn't stay the host showed us extreme kindness. We will return when the weather improves as looked to be a lovely spot and well positioned to explore Devon.

Take care with access.

Instructions to the site were good though the last 0.25miles were a bit scary....the road is narrow! The welcome was lovely and access into the site was OK. The site is virtually level, it's grass, which is mowed short. Each pitch has electric, a water tap and grey water can go in the hedge. Elsan point is in the bottom corner of the site. There is an equestrian centre nearby and the fields to the side of the site have horses. The owner informed us of a Sunday horse show event and we were expecting lots of noise and difficulty getting out of the site but it wasn't a problem at all. It wasn't even noisy. There is a beautiful walk from the site. It was really peaceful. Stayed 8 nights and would definitely stay again.

Lovely location

We were welcomed by Laraine & Lydia on arrival who showed us where everything was. Very conveniently each pitch has its own water tap, toilet disposal not too far down the field and grey waste into the hedge. There is a narrow track the other side of the hedge which was ideal for giving the dog a walk as it was used mainly by horse riders and occasional farm vehicles. Views of Dartmoor in the distance and young horses in the field over the fence and plenty of places to visit within easy reach, although this year it was exceptionally busy - Totnes lovely and handy for shopping. A couple of downsides - the road past the site is very busy to and from the Equestrian Centre - lots of fast cars, lorries delivering and horse boxes. There aren’t many passing places so a bit nerve wracking to and from the main road especially when towing. The other slight annoyance was the grass mowing which left cuttings everywhere and really messed up our car and van when wet.

Lovely views with great owners

We’ve just had 4 incredible nights at this beautiful camp site with amazing owners. Nothing was too much trouble and they were so friendly and welcoming. The site had wonderful views and the weather was perfect. Wish there were more sites like this. Thankyou so much

A very pleasant rustic rural CL

This CL has a very pleasant rustic charm about it and has very welcoming and friendly owners, Laraine and Paul. The CL area is enclosed by a fence and has five very generous sized pitches. When we were there Laraine and Paul's own touring caravan was being stored in one corner of the CL area but this wasn't a problem. Whilst there is a very slight slope towards the far end of the site it is nothing to be concerned about. Each pitch has its own water tap and EHU on the fencing separating each pitch. Grey water can be drained away to the edge of the pitch. There is a magnificent view over towards Dartmoor with what I believe to be Haytor Rocks on the horizon almost 10 miles distant. The CL owners have horses which are in the paddock in front of the CL. These are not a problem and, in fact, give some 'entertainment'. Overall the CL is very quiet and peaceful. If I had to find a fault it would not be with the CL but with the final quarter of a mile down what is essentially a single track lane with passing places. We did meet a vehicle coming towards us when we arrived but with a bit of careful driving got past each other without a problem. We always assess a CL by asking ourselves whether we would pay a return visit. The simple answer is a very emphatic YES, if it is not fully booked!

Not great

We stayed in November 2015 and it was of course wet so most of the CL was not able to be used.  Very limited area of hardstanding by an outbuilding with other cars parked.  As we have a small motorhome we could use this but still had to cross soggy grass for the water and electricity point.  Worse still the grey water and toilet emptying was some distance down the boggy field.  We were advised to let the grey water go onto the ground as it was just too difficult to wheel the trolley with a loaded container through the gate and down the slope.  Directions were confusing at the crossroads but appear to have been changed now.  Luckily it was not too far down the narrow lane although there were not too many passing places and the road is quite busy.  The location is handy for many attractions and probably better when dry.  Nice views and the owners did come out when we arrived to point out the water etc.

Great CL

Friendly helpful owners, amazing views from well laid out pitches. Wonderful. We stayed for four nights in September and will return when next in the area.  Our only problem was finding it due to the directions in the site book, namely half of them were missing. Once found it was a little gem.

Perfect break

This is a regular CL for us and one of our favourites. The owners Paul & Lorraine are always really helpful and welcoming. The pitches are great and the access is not too bad if you take care. The only downside is too many people might start booking in and we won't get a pitch!!

Peaceful location

Just returned from a lovely week on this site. The owners were very pleasant and welcoming. Pitches were large with the added bonus of water on each pitch, a really useful addition. Lovely views and nice to watch the horses in the adjoining field. We didn't really locate the walks or cycle routes from the site, the lanes were quite busy so went further afield for this. Overall a lovely site and would definitely return.
