Disappointed

Disappointed with this CL for a few reasons. 1. On arrival we struggled with the pitch allocated as it was sloping in two directions and impossible to get the awning to peg down. The caravan nose was on the ground and back legs fully extended. No one was home and neither phone number was answered when I called for advice re moving pitch. We attempted pitching three times then moved to the next pitch (4 pitches were empty). When the owner arrived home he said we couldn’t have the pitch we had chosen as it has been allocated for the following day, he somewhat grudgingly agreed for us to move another pitch saying he hadn’t had a complaint about the sloping field before. So after a 4.5 hour drive and 5 attempts to set up we finally unpacked. 2. We enjoy a good sunset but the view was spoiled by the industrial metal shed. 3. Dog friendly? Well that depends- yes they accept dogs and yes there is a walk around the field - with an electrified fence. There’s nowhere to let a dog exercise off lead. 4. Road noise and farm machinery spoil the tranquility we hoped for. 5. Uncollected grass cuttings were a real nuisance when wet - they stuck in clumps to shoes and paws and transferred into the caravan. 6. At no point did Sam bother to say hello to us - despite riding a horse opposite us every day. 7. Due to a family crisis at home on day 4 we had to leave, having paid for 7 nights we were refused any refund despite explaining the circumstances. I’ve read the glowing reviews on here and cannot believe we stayed at the same place, we had a very different experience. Horses for courses I guess. On a positive note - The horses were beautiful as was the morning sunrise view.

Not a surprising review from yourselves but feel the need to add balance to your comments. Firstly, we made arrangements to meet you on arrival at 2pm. You messaged to say car trouble and would not arrive until 3pm, I replied to tell you your pitch number and that I would put a marker out just incase no-one was back yet (school run). You arrived at 3.10pm and we were back just after 3.30pm. You say you tried 5 times to pitch up? You told us 3 times, and our CCTV concludes that recollections may vary. You ignored the pitch marker and placed yourselves straddling 2 pitches, this is why you were asked to reposition onto another pitch and yes we had guests arriving who requested to be together. You were quite rude to my partner from the outset. Industrial shed? I think the word you are looking for is agricultural :) and no, it does obstruct the sun. Cows moo, sheep baa, horses neigh and farmers go about their daily business, all glorious sounds of the countryside!

Our policies for cancellations and dogs are clearly stated. Being dog-friendly does not equal allowing off the lead around livestock, nor wandering around other peoples pitches. We love dogs but not all our guests do, and other dogs can be reactive, so yes, please keep on a lead. I did not happen to see you until the day of your departure, however both Mark and I saw your husband but he made it quite clear that he didn't want to interact with us nor the other guests. Perfectly fine if that's what you want. On your departure, your neighbour (seeing you struggle to hitch up) offered some assistance but was ungraciously refused, you then proceeded to drive off without winding up the jockey wheel and left a big gouge in your pitch.

So before asking why your experience with us was so different to others, perhaps a little inward reflection wouldn't go amiss.
