Average CL on a steep slope

Access via long pot holed farm track and over cattle grid into a paddock on a fairly steep grass slope. Previously mentioned view is obscured by trees from pitch positions also found 6 vans on site . No dog walking area on site and exit farm track was through a field of cows - not always a good situation. I have been to CLs that are level hard standing well laid out with free wi fi for less money.

lovely peaceful site

we spent a went and windy week here in June but the weather did not detract from our enjoyment of the site of the area. Friendly helpful owners. well thought out site. maybe a passing place on the farm track approach would be reassuring? will certainly visit again

Many thanks for a lovely stay

Have just arrived back home from a lovely stay from 22/7/17 to 26/7/17. We had a lovely time and would like to thank Jo very much for making us feel very welcome. Excellent location for Bakewell, Buxton, excellent fish and chips in Longnor. Beautiful views from the site and peace and quiet. If we ever come this way again we will definitely stay again.

Nearly perfect

Why nearly? Well a few people grumbled during our stay that the CL slopes too much. It's true that it does slope as it's set on a hillside that runs down to the village of Monyash but the owners have provided a multitude of levelling blocks for their guests to use (either found lying around the site from previous users or. in the crate by the bins. We were able to pitch nearer the bottom of the slope and found it only needed a slight adjustment. One person complained that it was too windy to put up an awning. Well it is located at a high point in the Peak District but it is sheltered by mature trees and anyway the owners cannot control the weather. The compensation for all of this is wonderful views of a countryside that was quite majestic. Our view from the caravan was framed by two maple tree trunks and nothing finer is hanging in any art gallery. The grass (no hardstandings) is well mowed and well kept by the owners, who are very friendly and go out of their way to make your stay as pleasant as possible. Despite some serious downpours on the two days before we left we had no problem exiting the site. The owners have to recycle and the bin area is well set out with different coloured bins for the refuse. The elsan toilet point is easy to use. The site is conveniently located for getting to most of the main attractions, being about 5 miles from Buxton on the Buxton-Ashbourne road, which incidentally does not cause any noise problems. Dog walking is a bit restrictive on site but the owners do not mind you using the fields surrounding the CL for exercising the dog but please be considerate and pick up after the dog, a trait missing from a few of our fellows stayers. The owners do provide a dog waste bin. You might also attract the attention of the heifers that roam the fields. If that doesn't suit for Fido then the Tissington Trail is only about 800 yards away. We enjoyed our stay and I could never get tired of the view so I guess we'll be back when next passing through the Peak District. Thank you to Jo and Tom, both for the CL and also for their friendliness.

A warm welcome awaits

We spent a lovely weekend at this site. It was good to meet Jo and Tom and to meet their new little one Holly. A very friendly welcome and very accomodating. Very clean and tidy, quiet and near to trails to cycle and walk. We will be going back definitely. The site is on a slope but wooden bocks are provided to help level. Thanks Jo and Tom for a lovely stay. Martin and Wendy Usher (The Play Doctors)

Lovely Site

We had a 2 night stay earlier this month. A really lovely site, peaceful and very well maintained. We were made to feel very welcome by the site owner Jo, and have already booked for a return visit later this year. We really recommend this certificated location.

Derbyshire's Best!!

We have just had 4 nights at Tom and Jo's site at Highlow farm, they made us feel very welcome and made sure everything was as it should be.......excellent hosting. The site falls in the centre of so many places to see making it the ideal place to stay, the views are spectacular but the "peace and quiet" was the star quality of the location. We have already made plans to return in May and would recommend this CL to all. Thank you T & J and good luck for the future. Cheers Pete, Sue, Zak and Loxley.

Wonderfully simple CL

Just returned from a very relaxing stay at Highlow Farm. Just the sort of CL we like. Peaceful, well kept, friendly and helpful owners, lovely views from pitch. Access is very easy. Site is set back from the road along a track - all easy to navigate. The grass is cut short and the pitches slope a little but van easily levelled. The Elsan point, bins etc are all well thought out. We had good tv, mobile and 3G reception. The view over breakfast is wonderful. This is just the sort of CL we like, and will certainly return.
