Excellent Site and Very Interesting Area

Followed advice of other reviewers and got Brian's directions on the phone in advance and had no problems approaching the site. Beware that there are some narrow and very steep roads in the area which the directions help you avoid. Also, watch out for the undulations in the road crossing the levels as you can ground car or van if going too fast. Brian and Shelley are very friendly, helpful and thoughtful and I cannot endorse them highly enough. The site is neat, very clean and all pitches have fabulous views all the way to the Dorset hills (if the weather is good!). We used the site as a break on the way to and from Cornwall but the area really deserves more time to explore because of the interesting scenery and places to visit. Glastonbury is near and worth a visit and the Levels are fascinating. Even found a local cider maker just down the road who greeted us with the words: "You lookin' for a drink?" and proceeded to pour two very generous tasters. At 6.5% you will need to be a bit careful if driving ! Will definitely visit the site again and can highly recommend.

Lovely friendly site

We really enjoyed our stay here. There is lots to do, and the locals are very friendly. Brian keeps a lovely tidy site with no heavy handed rules, and is very knowledgeable. The only slight problem is finding it, which was overcome by being talked in - you wouldn't want to find yourself on some of the approach roads to High Ham with a caravan in tow as they are very steep and narrow. Follow Brian's directions or approach from the north as suggested and its fine though. The slight slope on the site is advantageous as it means the step into the caravan is lower and you get those fantastic views! Apparently the Halfway House pub nearby ( between Langport and Somerton) is good, although we didn't have chance to check. We ate at the White Hart in Somerton where the food was excellent (heard that the chef is ex River Cottage although not confirmed)

Lovely well maintained site

We have just returned from Hilltops and were there for 2 nights. We spoke to Brian before we travelled and he was about to phone us to apologise for the fact that he wouldn't be there for our arrival but explained where everything was and gave directions to the site. The site is peaceful, well maintained and with beautiful views. There is a toilet, wash basin and a small library of books and local guides of places of interest. Whilst we were there we broke the front wheel support on our dog stroller which we need for our 14 year old Border Terrier. Brian took this away and welded it for us. Now that's what I call service! We will return for longer next time as there is so much to see in the area.

Thankyou Brian and Shelley

We returned here for a peaceful get away over a weekend and ended up staying once again just over two weeks. Arriving is like turning up on your doorstep. We're taken away with the views surrounding the site, it's a great place to totally unwind blessed thankfully with the hottest of weather being able to sit out with a nice wine late into the night with the use of Brian ( the owners) home made chiminea from an old gas bottle! Was great to see them turn up to see our gig not far away lovely people look forward to staying there again soon.

One of the Best

Great CL with spectacular views. Brian and Shelley are perfect hosts with good knowledge of the area which is very helpful for first-timers like us. Amply space with spotless facilities which included a new toilet block. Will plan a return visit next year. Idea for sightseeing and fishing both rivers and lakes. Well done, other sites could take a leaf out of there book.

A beautiful and welcoming CL

This is a fantastic CL. The large site is immaculately kept and the grass well mown. The facilities - toilet, water tap, information and book room are kept clean and tidy. The views from the site are beautiful. The owner is so welcoming and friendly. He is also full of good advice as to where to go and what to do. There is a lot more in the area than we had expected. The area is good for walking and cycling, but not quite as flat as we had expected! One of the best CLs we have visited. Thanks Brian and Shelley.

Home from home

We visited this site las year with some friends for what was going to be a weekend but ended up turning into a holiday! To say the least we stayed 17 nights and didn't want to leave then. The views are stunning from this site, clean tidy and a very warm welcome. Feel like we've known Brian (the owner) all our lives. He's hands on at everything making sure your stay is as good as it possibly can be with great knowledge of the surrounding areas on where to eat/drink and walking etc. We will be returning so who knows maybe a month this time.

Review of Hilltops, High Ham, from June 2012

We are new to caravanning and this was the first CL we have visited. Wow. Simple, neat, well kept and what lovely views. It's situation is quiet, no road noise at all. The views of Somerset are stunning, rural , unspoilt countryside at its best. The owners are so helpful, friendly and laid back. They are available if required without being intrusive. The site slopes in part (it's on a hillside!), is very neatly kept grass, and the whole site is very well maintained. The toilet facilities are newly done and again very clean. It's everything you need and I wish all CL's were this nice!

JUST WONDERFUL / UNSPOILT

My wife and I went to this small CL for a short weekend break and ended up staying a week.. Our first visit here but definatly not the last. The site owners Brian and Shelly could not have been more helpful and friendly. The site was spotless and very well laid out with views of the country side which was amazing. You could park you caravan up were ever and however you wanted. If you want a quite laid back break with wonderful views, this is the site to visit.
