Weekend break

An excellent peaceful stay. Caroline is very welcoming and friendly. An excellent cooked breakfast delivered to your site. Information on the local area along with take away menus, home cooked cakes and an on site menu for breakfast and afternoon tea are available in the hut. A perfect location for exploring the northern Lake District.

Excellent new CL site

Just spent four nights at Holmside and would describe the site as excellent. Local shops in Gosforth are only 20 mins walk with a lovely beer garden in the Gosforth Hall Hotel. There is a breakfast menu available with afternoon teas delivered to your pitch and we experienced a horse riding display. Local produce is available in the information summer house with books and games to borrow and the best toilet and shower facilities we have yet experienced. Their 2 border collies and 5 horses were a delight. The owners were friendly and very helpful. Definitely be back! Thank you!

Fantastic New CL

Lovely new CAMC CL. Well thought out spacious pitches, with lovely views of the fells.Very friendly owners. Handy for many places to visit, coast, Lakes,Ravensglass Railway. Had the full Cumbrian breakfast delivered today by Caroline the owner, piping hot and delicious. Also treated ourselves to the deluxe afternoon tea, was lovely complete with teapot and tea cups and saucers if required! Fish and chip van visits a couple of local places on alternate weeks. The shower currently not open is brand new and lovely. Information chalet with printed walks from site, takeaway menus etc. Being horsey people lovely to see the horses being schooled in the arena and mooching around in the field. Just eating “99” from Ice-cream van that has visited! Very quiet and peaceful . Visited many CL’s over the years in various parts of the country and this one is definitely up there with one of the best. It’s a lovely quieter part of the Lakes to visit, and will most certainly visit again in the not to distant future.

a lovely peaceful CL close to a nice village

We visited Holmside for two nights in May 2021. It's a new site so everything is in great condition. The pitches are hard standing, large, fairly level and well spaced out. There is power for all pitches. There is an information cabin with tray bakes (honesty box), games, and a menu for home cooked food. We had a lovely cooked breakfast on a Sunday morning, thanks Christine. The Toilet has a loo, wash hand basin and shower. We met and chatted to the owners who are a lovely couple. We will definitely use this site again. The nearest village is Gosforth (about 3/4 of a mile on a mostly flat and quite quiet road). The village has pubs and a good convenience store plus some other shops. The site is only a few miles from the coast.

We were the First Guests!!

FANTASTIC site in an amazing location. Both the mountains in Wasdale and beach at Seascale in easy reach. Warm welcome from the owners when we arrived. We had a great 4 night stay. So nice we are booked to go back in 4 weeks time.

Amazing new CL

Only open a few days prior to our visit. The site is easy to access, laid out perfectly with 4 out of 5 pitches facing scarfell and scarfell pike. Lovely wide pitches all hardstanding and loads of space between so no matter which side you line up on theres lots of space between you and the pitch next to you. Thwre are walks from the site and Gosforth village is very close with lots of local amenities. Not far from the beaches too. Try the cakes! They are amazingly tasty! Will definitely be back here!

Superb new cl

Brand new cl set within walking distance of Gosforth village that has a good general store. Lovely walks all around direct from site. Beautiful new cl that has been constructed with a lot of careful thought. The shower room will be lovely when completed and able to be open when Covid restrictions allow. Offering full cooked breakfasts and other food options too. This is the first week of opening and 4 vans here tonight. Views of Wasdale valley and just so peaceful. We will definitely revisit for a longer stay. Only slight criticism is that not all pitches were level and we needed ramps. But all in all a cracking new site in a gorgeous position which I am sure will prove to be very popular!
