Ease of arrival/welcome

September Break

On arrival to site there is a board to tell you which pitch to use, the pitches are very spacious and generous. Once pitched up we were greeted by Gary who was very quick to advise us of there T&C's as we did not receive their welcome email. Unfortunately due to the weather and us having a dog we had set up our awning and placed down a ground sheet for our 4 night stay (wanting to dry us and the dog off on the ground sheet rather than the very wet grass). Apparently this is a big no as it could ruin the grass (so bare this in mind). The site is very peaceful and some lovely scenery, nearest eating establishments are about 50min walk away or a short drive. Toilet block was clean and tidy, if planning on using your own facilities make sure you have green loo or you will not be able to empty your cassette.

Thank you so much for your review. We appreciate you taking the time to do so. We are pleased that you enjoyed our spacious pitches and the peaceful nature of our site, along with the lovely coastal scenery on our doorstep. Thank you also for mentioning the toilet and shower block which we take great pride in its quality as a new and appreciated facility.

You make two very relevant points which I'm sure future guests will find helpful:

Firstly, the use of groundsheets. Being a grass pitch site, we encourage guests not to use groundsheets, but where these are used (for instance during very wet weather), we require these to be breathable groundsheets and that guests work with us during their stay to avoid grass dieback by pulling back the groundsheet during the day when out to allow light and air to reach the grass. This approach works well with the vast majority of our guests.

Unfortunately in your case, your groundsheet was an impermeable plastic tarpaulin with rubber matting on top, which we are unable to accept. However, we were grateful that you agreed to lift it to avoid damage.

Secondly, the use of green toilet fluid. Our septic tank system cannot cope with the use of either blue or pink toilet fluids since these kill off the helpful bacteria in the system that ensure that sewage treatment on site remains healthy and non-polluting.

Both of these requirements (the use of groundsheets and the requirement to use green fluid) are clearly stated both in our Terms and Conditions (sent out at the time of booking with the booking confirmation) and our Welcome Note (sent out 10 days before). Both were sent out to you and received.

Thank you for your stay.
