Very nice spacious CL

This CL is based in a spacious field and we could basically choose where to put our caravan. There are electric points along two sides so a big choice. It was very windy when we were there and moved from our first pitch at the top of the field to one further down the other side where there was a little more protection from the embankment. The owner was very welcoming and friendly - when we saw him but obviously being a farmer he's bound to have a busy life. If we needed anything we could usually find him around the farm buildings. Access was pretty good considering the narrowness of most of the roads in this area. Good for cycling although quite hilly!!

Extremely spacious CL, ideal for the Coastal Path

Many of the roads in this part of Wales are very narrow and the instructions provided by the owners are the best way to access the site. Don't approach it from the other direction as you won't get in. The site is 2.5 acres with the pitches spaced along two sides in an L shape with masses of space between each. The grass in this area is cut regularly and it's reasonably level. It's a basic CL with just electric hook-up provided. Good views to the west. It is very peaceful unless the wind is due west when you can hear the children at the campsite across the fields in the distance, but it's not really a problem - and probably only happens in August. The water pressure is very low so it takes a long time to fill up the water drum from the tap. Our main criticism is that we didn't see the owners at all in the five days we were there. On the last day I went to the farmhouse to pay and was greeted by a girl/young woman, who I presume to be a daughter, who didn't ask for a name or any details other than how long we'd been there and she just took the money. No questions such as 'had we enjoyed our stay' etc. Would we stay here again? Probably.

Ideal for the Pembrokeshire Coast

Firstly follow the directions from the book to find this site, although it can also be approached from the St Davids site, as long as you know the road and don't come off the A487 as the entrance is impossible. I prefer the St Davids road instead of the Haverford West - Croes-goch road but you need to look up the access before travelling. Secondly this is a basic electrics only site, but the grass is well cut, and there is sufficient protection from being directly on the coast (and we needed it even in July). There is plenty of space, and lets face it, you're here for the coast. I could have scored any amount of stars for the attractions, but remember this is not Cornwall, you have to make the best from the natural resources and that is where it excels. The coastal walking is superb, and more adventurous activities can be found such as coastering and sea kayaking as well as standard west coast beach activities. If you are in to art, the Galleries around the area are very good, we made purchases at the Oriel Albion Gallery in St Davids, but there is something to support most tastes if you explore. Note, the whether in Pembrokeshire is always a challenge, but again there is some of the beauty as the changing light and conditions also make the area more attractive (or repulsive depending on your view). The chip shop in Porthgain was given very good reviews from all that we spoke to, but there is a warning the for those expecting animal fat specialities will be grossly disappointed as I was and found them somewhat mediaocre. The best recommendation is will I stay here again and here you get a resounding YES

Perfect!

We absolutely loved this site. A fantastic location to explore this part of the Pembrokeshire coast. The site is easy to find from the directions in the book, it is level with plenty of room to have your own space and has far reaching views. You can walk to Abereiddy and access the coastal path where you can walk to Porthgain via the Blue Lagoon on the head of Abereiddy or the other way to White Sands if you like a long walk. St Davids is a very short drive away which is a must to visit. Other places to go are Solva and Porth Calais but do walk down to the sea as the harbours are long and thin. This area is so relaxing and beautiful and the CL is perfectly positioned to do it all! Do go to the Sloop at Porthgain and watch the sunset. Highly recommended.

Quite Hideaway

We spent 3 nights here over the May half-term and had the field to ourselves. There are fabulous countryside views. The site is well placed for access to the coast path and also within a few minutes drive of the Shed at Porthgain. The pitches are well spaced apart and have electric. The facilities are good for a country farm CL.

Far reaching views

Stayed 1 night at this CL. We were taken by the 360 degree views. The other units on site were very well spaced and the position well set back from the road down a lane make the site ideal for those wanting to get away from it all. Mainly level area meant levellers were not necessary. We walked the dog down to the sea (at Abereiddy) where again the views were stunning. Our satnav took us directly to the farm but we couldn't see the CL so drove a further .25 miles to end of lane where the sign told us to go back and look harder. Site was signed from this direction. There is a narrow site entrance so be careful when entering. Facilities were basic with chemical disposal, water and rubbish skip but even so they get pretty busy during the summer. A nice site if you want good dog walks and peace.

A basic site but peaceful with very pleasant surroundings. Plenty of room between units. A relaxing site but not toolong a drive to excellant eateries eg The Shed and The Sloop. Booking is advisable for The Shed.
