A lovely August break

We stayed at New House farm for 5 nights in August 2020. Easy access directly off the A52. On arrival the site was immaculate, lawns freshly mown. By day the views across open fields are fabulous and the night sky is beautiful in clear weather. Guest toilet and shower facilities are simple but kept spotless, regularly cleaned and always well stocked with paper, soap, disinfectant and sanitizer. Both Mr and Mrs White were welcoming, friendly and chatty. Ideal base for exploring the south Peak District, the Tissington trail, Carsington Water, Dovedale etc. Some lovely places to eat nearby. Overall an extremely enjoyable stay and a site that we would unreservedly recommend and return to.

Weekend Break

A weekend stay here (July 2020) as we wanted somewhere not to far from home, with hardstanding and EHU. (No rallies at present, which are our usual weekend venue.) For us this was an ideal location, we did several walks without having to use the car to get anywhere. The views are great but it can be windy as you are on an open hillside. Pitches would benefit from a little TLC, but they are hardstanding (there are six to chose from). You will need leveling blocks as the pitches do slope. There is a toilet and shower but we did not use them, but they looked clean, generally use what we have in the caravan. If you do bump into the farmer he is very chatty and is a caravaner himself. If you have an 8ft wide van you will need to be very careful with the CL entrance over the cattle grid as there are fences on both sides and the first bend on the site, the large bush needs trimming! It is a very quiet site, although you might have a large herd cows in the surrounding fields, but they did not distub us. I am sure we will be back as this site suited us very well.

Happy Caravaners

Spent 4 nights in August at this site. Although it is off the main road there was no road noise, it is a very peaceful and organised , pitches semi hardstanding and grass kept short. It has lovely views too We have been caravanning since 1985 so have stayed on many CL's and this one we would be more than happy to stay on again. If you are looking for all the facilities of modern club sites then maybe a CL site isn't for you. This CL suited us just fine and we can be hard to please.

A week in July

Fabulous views, but could be windy ridge in less benign weather. Grass cut regularly and clippings picked up. Pitches close together. Site tranquil with easy access from main road. Note: Ashbourne is a traffic bottleneck at certain times of day. Didn't have contact with owners except to pay, although they issued a friendly wave from ride on mower. The facilities! We chose a site with a shower and toilet, but in reality, without our own on-board facilities we could not have remained there. We are happy with, and do use 'rustic', but those on site are not of a useable standard.

what more could you ask for

I am not sure what people want from a site but for us this is perfection, clean toilet and shower, the only time you see any one from the farm is when they are working, but they will stop and speak if you wander over or catch them in the field, Mrs white didnt seem to mind where we walked the dog just advised to keep away from the cattle so relaxed and a wonderful stay easy to get to any where as straight of the A52, I am not sure what people expect from a site but for 18 pound a night and a pound for a shower there is realy nothing to complain about

We keep coming back

We have just returned from another visit here (over new year). Such a beautiful site and well placed for visiting the area. Probably better to use your own facilities, especially in the winter, but that is no hardship. Very reasonably priced. We only got home yesterday but are already looking forward to returning.

Lovely peaceful site

Lovely peaceful site with easy access from the main road. You just turn up choose your pictch and pop your money in the box located in the shower block. Levelling blocks will be required but it's not too much of a slope. The pitches are large with plenty of room and the toilet and shower facilities are rustic but perfectly adequate. The is a charge of £1 for the shower you just put your money in the honesty box, it's a fixed head shower so take a shower cap if you don't want to get your hair wet! The pub is just a 15 minute walk away and it serves lovely meals and the staff are very friendly. We will definitely return to this site.

Peaceful and chilled site

Pretty site, accessed via a narrowish track with two cattle grids. Signposted off main road. Well mowed and slightly sloping site with hookups, water etc. We were left undisturbed by the owners and enjoyed a relaxing break. Nice dog friendly pub about 15 mins walk away, wonderful Staffordshire oak cake supper. Ilam and Dovedale about 15 mind drive away. Toilet and shower were rustic but ok and plenty of hot water. No municipal pot washing but not a problem. Would stay again.
