Lovely CL!

We had a wonderful 3 night stay at Oak Cottage, Sue was so friendly and had lots of information about the area, a printed handout that was very useful and her local knowledge was invaluable. We found the site so peaceful, sitting in the sunshine and totally relaxing. The walk to the beach was easy and very pleasant through the wood parts and we continued along the beach to have lunch at Highcliffe tearoom, steep steps as the ramp is not in use after a landslide. Highcliffe High Street is great, every shop you could want and a fabulous fish and chip shop opposite a Chinese and is a couple of minutes drive from the site. The Walkford pub, 500 yards from the CL is brilliant! The staff were lovely and helpful and the range of food offered was great and reasonably priced. We have already rebooked to visit Oak Cottage again, can’t wait!

Great little find, we will be back.

Just arrived home from a weeks stay at Oak Cottage, very warm welcome for Sue on arrival, I picked this sit for its location, short walk from everything you needed. Thanks Sue for the clear written instructions on how to get to the beach, a lovely walk through the woods, couple of road crossings and we were there. This is a small site and the entrance is tight, I have large truck and 8 metre long caravan, I took my time and got in and out with caravan easily. I liked the electric gate, made it both secure and easy to get in and out. I was worried about the train track being close, but did not need to be, we had our windows and sunroofs open all the time and this did not disturb us at all. (Quietest train ever) Oak Cottage has everything you need for a quiet, peaceful stay, close to everything and in walking distance of Coast, Pub and shops. Its a great base for New Forest, Christchurch, Bournemouth, Poole and further down the Dorset coast. Thanks you for a great stay Lou and Veronica

Nice weekend location in Dorset

We stayed here in June for a weekend mini break. It is a lovely site and the owners are very friendly and made us feel so welcome. The site has electric hook up and is situated in a small clearing surrounded by trees. It was 20 min easy walk to the lovely beach at Highcliff well worth the trip and 2min walk to the local Pub. The train line adjacent causes very little noise We would thoughly recommend this site for its location, access to wonderful beaches, the new forest and genial hosts.

Thanks for our stay..

My wife and I stayed here early summer 2017 and the site was just lovely. It is a quiet lawned area ensconced by hedgerows and woodland. Yes the railway runs alongside but it didn't interrupt our stay. Yes the site entrance needs to be negotiated carefully but I have an Audi A6 Avant and Bailey Pageant Champagne so its a long outfit - but I managed easily. There aren't any views from the site, but it is cosy. The owner was very helpful, there's lots to do nearby and its only a short (and quite pleasant) walk to the sea shore and a lovely areas of coastline. If you want somewhere quiet, sheltered and out of the way but still within walking distance of the beach and near to other New Forest towns - give this one a try...! Thanks Sue. Peter & Diane HALL

Autumn Stay

We stayed at Oak Cottage for a few days at the end of September. Access is down a narrow lane and then through a gate into the site which needs care as it's a bit tight, we have a 7m van and managed ok, but could be a problem for larger vans. The site itself is level no blocks required, however being later in the year the grass was worn and had been churned up in places. The site is surrounded by trees and the railway runs along one side, although trains not that frequent so didn't really notice them after a while. Water and CDP were near the cottage. The Walkford pub was only 5 minutes walk and the footpath to the beach is opposite, Mrs Craufurd Kennedy supplies a sheet with directions. We walked along the beach to Mudeford Quay, a lovely walk with the dog. Bus stops just along the road too. The CL is in a good location for visiting the coast and the New Forest. Supermarkets and shops in Christchurch for supplies.Overall a nice CL in a good location.

Peaceful location

Just spent a lovely week here. Amenities quite close. Great walk to beach and then along to Highcliffe castle. Mrs Crauford-Kennedy is very helpful with information and the free range eggs were delicious!

Another lovely visit

Just got back from another nice visit to this site. All as has been said in my previous review and the chemical emptying tap problems have been sorted. Thanks very much. The Walkman pub, just down the road was clean and tidy with friendly staff, served good pub grub at a reasonable price with a nice pint to wash it down. This small site was full on this visit but we all had plenty of room and everyone was lovely and friendly. Another nice visit. We WILL be back!!
