Lovely peaceful site and surroundings

We were met on arrival by Phillip (the owner's son) who was very helpful and informative. This was our first time out on our own in our motorhome and we wanted somewhere peaceful, small and quiet. This CL didn't disappoint! Philip told us of the places we could walk to, eat and drink. We had a lovely meal and drinks in Jacks Surf Bar in Allonby, a very nice sunday dinner in the Manor House Bar and Restaurant (20 mins walk) and then a nice stroll and a few drinks in the community run Lowther Arms in Mawbray. Combined with the spectacular views of the Lake District and Scotland this was site has our vote!

Really lovely site in a great location

This was our 1st stay at a CL in our caravan and, if this place was anything to go by, it won't be the last. On arrival we received a friendly welcome from the owners son who gave us a choice of pitches and pointed out the various options in the locality for eating and drinking. The location was outstanding with uninterrupted views onwards the Lake District in one direction and the mountains of Scotland in the other. The sea was 100 metres away. It was extremely quiet and peaceful with the silence broken only by the owners flock of sheep. It's a short walk to the village which consisted of 2 pubs, a cafe and small shop and a mile along the road the site is situated on is a caravan park with a bar and restaurant. It was a really relaxing 4 night break in a beautiful location and is highly recommended.

Perfect location - we will be back.

We had an amazing stay at Old Kiln Farm, arrived on Sunday in the middle of Storm Franklin, Vera greeted us and advised us to use pitch 1 because of the weather. Vera made us feel really welcome. We could move if we wanted after Franklin had passed, we didn’t bother we loved the pitch. We loved our stay it was perfect for exploring the north Lake District and for long walks down the beach. Can not recommend this site enough. We have found another gem and are looking forward to future visits.

Superb Site

What a beautiful site and a nice greeting with lots of help and advice about the area. Hoped to stay 2 nights but the snow put pay to that. We will be back.

Lovely and peaceful site

We loved this quiet and peaceful site. Vera and Joe were lovely hosts and keep the facilities spotless. There is a bus service every two hours, Monday to Friday, to Silloth or Maryport, or could walk along the pebbly beach or there is a cycle path. Allonby is close by and has a lovely tea room that does a delicious afternoon tea. We caught a stunning sunset and sunrise during our three night stay. We will return.

Such a peaceful site

This was our first stay on this site but won’t be our last. The owners Vera and Joe are very welcoming and helpful and keep the site immaculate, the toilet and showers are kept very clean. In such a peaceful location with quiet lanes for walking, running and cycling along. Vera and Joe helped and reassured us during a middle of the night medical emergency.

Fantastic site.

Just finished a 5 night stay at this site. Very warm welcome from Vera and Joe. Fabulous site only a few minutes from the beach which our Collie loved. Pitches well laid out with plenty of room between them and two lines of paving slabs for van wheels which is a nice touch. Shower and toilet were always clean. Huge beach when the tide is out and very nice to swim when the tide is in. Good walk along the beach into Allonby for morning coffee. Nice quiet country lanes for walking or cycling as well. Bus stops at road end if you want to go into Maryport or Silloth. Vera and Joe are always about and always find the time to have a chat. Vera very knowledgable about local area and always seems to be laughing. We will definitely return later in the year.

Immaculate CL Site

Just stayed here for 4 nights and will definitely be back, pitches are level and grass is cut short and picked up, so no mess in the van. The owners are helpful and friendly and there if you need anything. The only slight and I mean slight negative is it is a tight turn into and out of the site but owner guided us in and out so no problem.

Great Location Opposite The Beach

Just got back from this great CL, Old Kiln Farm, at Allonby. The beach is just across the road and a short walk along the beach or pathway brings you to Allonby with shops, chip shops and pubs. It is between Maryport and Silloth, both good for a walk. Also a great location to visit Whitehaven and St Bees. We didn’t have the best of weather as it was quite windy but it will be even better with sunny weather.
